Cyberion Releases Pure DOS Package (January 13, 2005)

Cyberion posted a note saying that an unused archive in yesterday's Pure DOS package was infected with some sort of malicious code. The file in question was not actually used in the execution of his program, but to be safe, he has reuploaded a cleaned version. You may want to run a local virus scan if you used this program, but even if you did, it's unlikely that anything got out. You can find Cyberion's full post here. I recommend Free AVG.

I was informed by the guy called "The Stinkypalm", that inside DEeP V1.x (DOS EnvironmEnt Package) has been found virus. I was surprised, cause I used that package for many days already, I even checked it before and had no troubles at all. But I decided to double check the archive and found the so-called "Virus One Half" , I have no idea what it does and didn't want to investigate that, so I just deleted it. It was found inside VC files. In particular inside VCSETUP.COM. The package doesn't use that file at all and won't be using ever, but it is inside the package just in case. So do not worry if you ran the package already, nothing will happen. I'm uploading the fixed version of the package, now it containes no viruses, at least i checked it with Docotr WEB, Norton Anti-Virus and Kaspersky Antivirus, none of them have reported anything. All files were clean. So it's safe now.

I'm really sorry for that people, accept my appologies, I'll look and check all the files from now on more carefully. And first of all, I'm going to kick the ass of the guy, who gave me this version of VC. We will have very serious conversation with him today.
And thx to "The Stinkypalm" again for reporting this issue.

P.S. do not worry everything is safe ;)

Which scanner found that virus? If it was AntiVir then I'd not worry about it. They are notorious trigger happy. I had pkzip identified as 'malware related tool' by that scanner already, along with a good deal of other tools.
