Couple of bugs...

Lone Wolf

Spaceman
I already posted this somewhere else, but nobody answered, so I thought I'd start a new thread.

Spirit, I just noticed 3 bugs with the WCU patch. I was fiddling around in the new Orion (great job, BTW), when I decided to make an attack run on the Confed carrier :) Well, I blew it to bits, then did the same to the Paradigm. Here's the problem: First, neither one of them responded. They just let me kill them without firng a shot in their defence. Second, when they are destroyed, there's no explosion. No rubble. Nothing. Just empty space. (Well, the carrier disapears in a fireball, but there's no rubble). And third, earlier some Kilrathi jumped in-sys and the Confed carrier launched Dralthi to fend them off...

And I have another question, will the carrier and paradigm regenerate after a while? Or are they gone for good in that game? Just wondering.

I definitely need to make carriers tougher. This said, I would like to know if either of those two ever turned hostile against you or not.

Vegastrike.config-file that came with the latest privR caused annoying polygon flickering in space after I jumped to another sector. And I almost got nuts because every confed ship constantly seemed to have the need to search me and say stuff to me. Overwriting that config file with the original one fixed these probs... In case someone else has these problems.

I also found a couple of pugs in the latest version.

Spirit, now whenever I launch any fighters from any ship, they appear as cargo crates. This is rather annoying...

Eeep O_O, what's going on?

I have no idea honestly. I'm going to upload the next revision in about six hours, it's all bug fixes.

as far as we're concerned the patch + priv *is* wcu...there is currently no other devel being done on it aside from spiritplumber's success :)

Well if you want something half presentable it's already there (I'm adding sol and kilrah right now.... must upload @_@; this is going to be almost 10mb!) also I added a tiny amount of stuff as far as you-know-which-faction is concerned, since we were discussing ships. I hope that it keeps with their theme...

My main concern right now is assigning systems properly, I'm coming up with an alliance check system for distributing bases within systems, but is there any record anywhere of which system belongs to which faction? I need to know because that way I can just assign things, PLUS that way I can start working on BW ships and decide which Confed systems are military and which are civilian.

system->faction record is in universe/wcuniverse.xml
any luck converting the armada ships--as far as I remember those were the easiest to convert with Deep Exploration

I'm changing the sys/fact a little in order to provide more variety, basically I'm defining a "roommate list" for possible extra bases. For example, a cluster of merchant systems are likely to also contain some confed bases, some militia basees, and some pirate bases. This way something gemini-like is generated by, say, assigning an entire sector to merchants, of course the extra bases will be scattered so this is not something which can be done properly to represent a front line.

I like seeing things going on when I fly -- like a bunch of pirates attacking a confed drayman and being spaghettified by its escort. (Happening in Sol/Auriga now as I type).

The main fear I have is to make something that's TOO self sufficient and thus doesn't require much player interaction, I do that AI-wise sometimes... please tell me if it happens here too v_v

The only files I am touching are faction_ships.py and generate_dyn_universe.py so don't worry about me breaking anything ^^;

Haven't had luck to convert armada ships, I don't seem to be able to do anything decent with textures :( and deep exploration doesn't like me...

http://www.spiritplumber.com/priv_remake/privR.zip This should fix things that were bugged earlier, and it has a quick and dirty conversion for sol system that should look half decent I hope.

If you want the new autogen to work properly I am afraid you will have to start a new game :(

temporarily, you begin the game with a Sabre, because I wanted to fly around in it ^-^ this is all very test-ish anyway. Also it compensates you for losing your stuff I hope...
