Contradictory comment in WC3

I was going over some web sites on Wing Commander and such when something occured to me. At the start of Heart of the Tiger, Angel says how the Kilrathi do not co exist (a mate's fave quote. I agree, and love the tough no nonsense commando Angel appears to be here). Well, what about Hobbes? What about the Kilrathi that helped Confed in the previous game? Just a mistake, I think.

This isn't really contradictory... more of a generalization. There's a quote, "all generalizations are false." This is a perfect example of that. "The Kilrathi don't coexist" could be built up hatred in Angel, or just any old generalization.... and remember... there's always exceptions to the rule. In this case, Hobbes and the Cats that helped you in older games are that exception. People say things like that all the time in real life. It's not a contradiction... just a generalization that's not exactly true.

It's not in the Kilrathi's nature to coexist. They're a warrior race. They see other races as prey, not equals. This does not, however, mean that they cannot coexist with other races. Thus, there is no contradiction. Besides, Hobbes' case is hardly a valid point. He was made to betray the Empire and take refuge in the Confederation.

True. Hell, I've probably even done it here.

Hobbes was an identity overlay. He was 'written' to fit in with humans.

Well , OK LeHa besides Hobbes there where other Kilrathi who helped Confed or Confed who Helped Kilrathi.

Action Stations depicts an understanding between cultures in a prison camp.

Yup, plenty on both counts.

Examples of Kilrathi who helped Confed: Kirha (Hobbes' retainer who was sworn to Hunter) Hajjnah (the Kilrathi scientist who defected to Confed), Bhok (the Kilrathi pilot who tried to defect in 'The Price of Victory), the Kilrathi officers in False Colors who helped the Landreich, and the populations of the four colonies which rebeled against the Empire during WC2 and SO1.

On the other side you've got the Society of Mandarins with characters like Jazz and Minx... and misguided souls promised some reward by Kilrathi agents, like Burroughs from Red & Blue or Minister Jameson from Fleet Action.

(Then, of course, there's that damned Ortiz from the CCG :))

Oh man, don't get me started on c*** Colsen.

You don't understand. I'm trying to figure out what "c***" is supposed to be. It doesn't look like any curse I've seen before.

If you want to know, the word I was censoring is cunt. As in Cunt Colsen, because lets face it, that's what he is.

Yeah, he was an idiot. I played WC2 first, then WC1, so it was a bit odd seeing him nice and friendly the first time Blair meets him. On the other hand, it was probably all just a masquerade.

Plus the nasty things he said. I loved Spirit, and I'm not afraid to admit it, so to me he's about the evillest person in any of the games. (Although he does not, in my opinion, top Final Fantasy's Sephiroth).
