Concordia refit...

Seventh Part of the Seal
We have all seen the differences between the Wing Commander Universe ships WC1 & 2 ships dont look all that different (Capships) but when you get to Wing Commander 3, the ships go from green/grey to blue/grey. At first i dismissed it as the Yorktown, Tallahasee, and Coventry, were all older designs, but then you see it on Confed HQ, Ellis Starbase (WC4), Blackmane, and then on the newer stuff like the Behemoth, Vesuvious class, Axius base, and that black lance transport.

Thus, the grey/blue wasn't likely an older design, and then Standoff comes out with thier version of a Concordia class carrier. Placing it all together, it seems like following the BoT, several ships had been put through an extensive refit (or as much as possible) to keep them battle-worthy.

So I was wondering if anyone had thought about what the older ships such as the cruisers, destroyers, carriers, and of course, the Concordia would look like with these mods? I at least have found a rendering of the Concordia in her "refit" design.

The biggest problem with that explanation is that it's become incredibly frustrating over the years - every single issue a fan has with anything has someone been explained by a magic "refit" that somehow happened at exactly the time when the Confederation was *least* able to pull ships off the line. A much easier explanation would simply be that different fleets sport different colors (supported by the fact that the ships in Wing Commander IV are the same classes but different colors a few years later... and that the Union of Border Worlds was immediately able to put to space a fleet of *red* versions of the same ships).

The picture is from the Wing Commander Saga project. It's a nice model, but it kind of stands out since the Concordia is obviously still green when it's found wrecked at the start of Wing Commander III.
