Chris Attempts Undercover Surveillance (May 17, 2004)

Cpl Hades

Mr. Kat
You may remember that on the way to E3, Chris stumbled upon the new EA compound completely by accident. Well on the way home, he took the opportunity to get a better look, this time in the daylight. Unfortunately he had to abandon the attempt when EA security got suspicious, but not before grabbing a few photos.

The last 16 photos from Chris' excellent E3 adventure are now in the gallery, and he'll get the commentary for the final day up when he has fully recovered.

They were doing a pretty good job of making me feel like I was on their property engaging in some sort of espionage, which I was I suppose. I was actually got a lot closer to the compound than the published photos show, but the shots I got up close lack any EA signage so I didn't post them. I also snuck in through a residential parking lot off to the side, so I managed to bypass the normal security checkpoint at their main gate. So I looked pretty shady I'm sure. I made up some excuse about trying to get to the other side of the building when they caught me. With that established, I started moving to the street to snap some pictures, but some more security people showed up and started looking at me in binoculars and stuff. I didn't wait around to see what happened next; I phoned my getaway car, it pulled up and whisked me away. I'm sure I looked incredibly suspicious the entire time.

Wait... "getaway car"? So you were doing this on foot - I guess your actions would look really suspicious. :) However, the impression I have is that they're just building a new complex there. Understandably, you don't just let anyone in on private property, but is there anything in particular they have to be so secretive about?

[Would it have hurt to introduce yourself as "Chris Reid, Wingnut Extraordinaire"? :)]
