Why is it that on some of the profiles the "add to buddy list" option is not available?

Can you name anyone?

It's probably people who have disabled their Private Messaging option.

Maybe is because they re Cadets or 2nd LTs

No, it's not that. Everyone can enable or disable the private message feature - whether they currently have access or not - and I think the Buddy feature is tied to this. The Buddy List is mostly a list of people you Private Message a lot.

It could be. I just checked a Cadet... he had PM turned on, but the add to buddy list option doesn't show up in his profile.

Oh, now I get it.

You were talking about the Profile view, not the Buddy icon. Yeah, looks like only the profile page checks if a user can receive Private Messages before displaying the buddy and pm link. The threadview doesn't, probably because it'd be too much work. (Then again, it does only show www and other icons where needed)

Not worth giving much thought, anyway.
