    A Good Joystick.

I use a CH Combatstick USB, works pretty well for the Windows games, and fully programmable. Only thing I find is that I have pretty small hands and have some difficulty reaching all the buttons and hats, so I'm now considering a Saitek X45 combo.

    installing XWA in XP

disregard that last post, I got it working now by playing around DirectX sound acceleration settings :)

    installing XWA in XP

Actually the inflight seems to have worked itself out. What is still broken however, are the video cut-scenes, eg. the intro video. The animation is not smooth and the sound is choppy. I have up to date ATI Catalyst drivers, XP Pro with SP2, and drivers for the on-board sound.. oh well, at least...

    installing XWA in XP

Your autoexec.nt is probably either corrupted or missing. You can usually find the original autoexec.nt in C:\Windows\repair In a command prompt: copy c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt c:\windows\system32 On a somewhat related note, XWA doesn't run well on my computer, the sound is choppy (I...

    WC3 cds to DVD possible?

I've done this with the KS version of WC3, I copied CD2 into a temp directory, and then the CD#MISS.TRE and CD#MOVIE.TRE files from CDs 3 to 5 into the same directory and burnt it to DVD. Well actually I "burnt" it to an ISO image, but it works fine. It still asks you to "Please Insert CD...

    freelancer demo is out

Thats what I've been doing, either running around shooting things just for the hell of it, or doing missions, getting paid, and after spending money on essentials (nanobots, shield batteries), spending the rest on any commodity, then dumping it in space. I've found so far, 7 ships, including...

Thanks, I guessed as much, even though the Freelancer Trial web page on Microsoft says, and I quote: "The trial version offers the chance to explore the entire Liberty System, giving access to more than a dozen bases and five flyable ships."

Stupid question, but how do you use jump gates? I get "access denied" Is there no jumping in the demo?

As for a radar, admittedly Freelancer space is a lot busier than Privateer or WC space, but for the most part, I used it in WC for enemy awareness during a battle, where a quick glance tells you approximate wingmen and enemy numbers, and roughly where there are; it isn't necessary see every...

Not whining about it, just saying, it takes a little getting used to, especially after years of playing flight and space sims with a joystick. Instinctly reaching for it, looking for the hat switch, rolling to get a better turn rate (a la Panthers and Vampires, admittedly thats not a joystick...

Just finished the scripted mission. Have to say, the mouse flight takes a bit of getting used to, especially only having a standard wheel mouse, I've lost the missile and "select nearest target" buttons on my 4-button-with-hat joystick. That said it does work well enough, except it now feels...

    Woohoo finished UE

What are the UE2 ships going to be? I keep reading about this "Rapier IV", but I don't remember seeing that in UE, though admittedly, I didn't read much of the fiction (just "Story" sections), nor play the simulator. No time, wanted to finish the game real quick :)

    Woohoo finished UE

Let me guess, no more Banshee? doh! I prefered the ship complement on the Intrepid in WC4, the Banshee and the Avenger were my favourites, and the Vindicator was cool looking. Those ships stick in my mind as BWS ones, not Scimitars and Epees. Oh and I definitely frown on flying any more...

Exactly, I enjoy it just fine the way it is. oh btw before I forget, great job Quarto, and all the rest of the UE team, credit where credit is due. Looking forward to UE2, and flying more BWS ships ;) well, more Banshee missions at least :D

Somehow, I don't think Quarto is going to lose any sleep over it  :D I know I won't :)

    Woohoo finished UE

I bow down to your superior talent then. Took me a weekend to finish it, and wasn't willing to spend any more time than that, other stuff to do.
