Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

Wcdx 2.2.1 is now released! Grab it here. Cockpit damage is finally here! Now you, too, can watch your cockpit come alive as it disintegrates around you! Is WC2 too much of a cakewalk? Try it without your radar! Of course, cockpit damage would never be complete if it didn't cause your...

Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

That's an interesting approach, but I'm guessing that it won't fix the timings for the cutscenes. I'd expect to still see ghost cockpits and other similar artifacts.

Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

Welcome to the forums! Yup; that was always a goal, but I didn't have an appropriate early machine for testing. @Zaljerem was able to confirm that an updated build will work on earlier processors.

    Yup, that's another good one!

Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

Well, there are a few options here: I really would like to get cockpit damage fixed, as that's really the final missing feature for WC1. I also need to go back through this thread looking for any reported unaddressed bugs (I really should be tracking this in GitHub). WC2 has some input issues...

Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

Well, as mentioned, the main issue here is that the scene data was changed for KS. I haven't spent any time digging into the data, though I know that some of the formats involved have already been deciphered and documented by other people. Still, researching the data and finding a good...

Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

Well, let's check the fundamentals to make sure everything is set up correctly. After copying/installing WC1 from your Kilrathi Saga CD (or the PC Gamer cover disk) and adding Secret Missions 1 and 2, make sure you also copy the STREAMS directory into your WC1 installation. You should have a...

Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

The patcher only works against the original executables. That doesn't mean you need to uninstall everything; you can just copy over the original executables and rerun the patcher, or even run the patcher against the executables in a different location.

Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

To use the cheats with GOG, if I remember right, you'll need to add -Origin -k to the DOS command line when it launches the game.

Outstanding work so far! I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes!

    WC3 Win95 Patch

Hmm... I expected that to be the CIC's downloads area, but it appears to be missing, as is the WC4 patch.

    Old Wing Commander games new

wcdx, meanwhile, is essentially a patch on the official Windows 95 versions of WC1 and WC2; it's the original game in the original engine, updated to be playable on modern systems.

Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

@ghost wolves: Sorry for the wait, but I found the answer you're looking for. First, you need to enable cheats; if you're using wcdx, you can do this in regedit by navigating to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Origin Systems\WC: Kilrathi Saga and setting the Cheater value to 1. That is...

Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

I think they remapped it to ctrl instead of alt or something; I can check after I get back from Prague.

Wcdx - Kilrathi Saga for modern Windows

I'm not at home right now and can't check directly, but I think those cheats may still work; they just have to be activated in a different way. I don't remember the details off-hand.

Star Trek: Picard | Free Series Premiere Episode on Youtube

I absolutely cannot abide the idea of this happening in any rational Star Trek timeline. The destruction of Romulus in the "prime" timeline was one of the absolute worst things to come out of the 2009 movie. Never mind the scientific absurdity of a supernova in a populated star system, the...
