Size and other questions, Kilrathi & Ships

fantastic work! and wow...heheheh, don't go off of that brad-gratha shot at all. that was one of my first forays into low poly work WAY back in the day and by no means accurate at all. seriously, really nice work you've done there! Brad

Happy Birthday LOAF! (April 19, 2007)

    Happy Birthday!

I do believe we are overdue....

Actually, good catch. So, LOAF, what would be the verdict? I actually didn't think of that at the time, was just going off what the Privateer system had and not of the period with regards to the ITTS system. If the consesus is solid that its out of place for the era and location, i've no...

I do believe we are overdue....

Yup. Each radar has its up sides and downsides, to include range (not a major factor really), power use, whether or not it can lock up a target for the purposes of singling it out, chance for identification, and then colors. So, the Sentry 8 can't lock a target, has a 10% chance of identifying a...

Question about the people on bases or in your ship

All the character work is on the back burner at the moment pending completion of the flight demo. I think we were thinking on having different heads, and a couple of different torso and leg bits to mix and match. i think it was going to be something like a grand total of 4 for each. 2 male, 2...

    Tinkering

There are other weapons for it, I just never modeled them. There are small point defense laser turrets. They're essentially just a ball thats placed on the hull. You're definately not seeing things, the booms are telescoping to make them a smaller and more armored target in combat...

    Tinkering

Forgot abotu this one. This ship is completely unrelated to the ships I posted before, but is another vessel I recently finished. (by finished I mean all of the main pieces not including weapons are done). It's design is firmly grounded in the 'Hard Sci-fi' realm of things. It's powered by an...

    Tinkering

Yup! Though not so much for an RTS as for a game engine in general. Also, the symbols on the fighters wings were inspired by german fighter markings of WWII. They indicate they wingmen and not flight leaders in this case. I really like WWII, so picking elements was something fun I thought i'd...

    Tinkering

Howdy folks, well recently I decided i'd work on the one area I am seriously weak in (texturing) and also do some work on an original universe at the same time. Since i've not had a lot to do of late on Pioneer as Joel's still pluggin away at the flight demo I knocked these out. Clearly my...

    black widow project

it was a sprite game that me and howard were working on a long time ago. he did all the cg, i did all the concepts. ran into problems with the programmer who just up and disapeared one day and it died. Might add it ultimately had nothing to do with wing commander actually.

    How great is Wing Commander?

Eh...Prophecy's cockpits compared to WC1-2 are seriously wanting. To me, the lack of cockpits did a lot to break that 'you're really there' experience. That immersive feel i got in Privateer and WC1-2 with the full cockpits was awesome, and definately lost later on.

Amazon Founder Unveils Spacecraft (January 5, 2007)

it's all a matter of having the required 7,900 some odd m/s delta V required to make it to Low Earth Orbit. Which means, having the appropriate amount of fuel. I'd be interested to know the how many g's it pulls on lift off. If they kept it low enough to get it off the groun and into space, or...

    Prologue Released!

While the dialog was indeed a bit tedious to run through multiple times, I really do like the 'you're new here, follow my orders' bit. I found it to be pretty neat, instead of you being instantly in charge, you're subordinate to someone else. Which is pretty much how it would work out.

    Prologue Released!

the freespace speeds aren't actually scaled in so far as i know, the ships travel at meters per second speeds, which in the grand scheme if things is about the best speed a ship in space is going to be able to run around at if we could actually build ships to fly like they do in wing commander...

    Prologue Released!

Howdy, just finished. While this was one hell of a product, I have to be honest....what seriously took so long to do? The two cutscenes are really nice, but easily produced, the voice talent could be done pretty well, and from what I remember of my days with playing around with FRED, not a whole...

    Question about new space sims

Any sim that includes the ability to walk around a station or planetary base when you land on it would be awesome, as well as seamless transitions between space and atmosphere. Have a system that will guide you into the base you're going to land at and a landing autopilot or something if you...

    Space Above and Beyond

All that remains now is a dead link it seems. It was kind off odd, they had the saratoga, hammerheads, chig fighter, the chig consular ship, and I think that was it. There were some original design ideas and stuff, but beyond that not much else. The dead link is...
