    Corpsman Up!

Speaking of medics, has anyone heard the followup to the guy who caught one in the throat in Iraq, went on treating his patient, and was still around at last check?

    Stormy Sunday

Thanks for taking our weather. Juneau, Alaska. An area known for torrential downpours, constant gloom, and pale skin. I'm now tan and we've had one semi-rainy day over the past three weeks. My car and it's balky windshield wipers appreciate this.

    Runways

Perhaps a runway is just the best way to arrange whatever magnetic/gravitic braking is applied to a fighter as it lands. I know that in a combat situation I'd prefer to be moving as fast as possible until I was safely under a capship's armor, and hanging motionless outside of a landing bay...

    Piracy

I think what you might try doing is beating them to a pulp and not killing them, but instead let them flee and drop their (undamaged, intact) cargo one box at a time. When they stop, if you really want blood on your hands you can kill them and pick up whatever drops.

    Jazz's death cutscene

I think they're just claiming to attempt the same thing as the Manadarin beauracracy, not claiming lineage.

    Star Wars Viewers: Explain This?

Re: things going boom near planets, that's one thing that few if any space fantasies ever observe - and I thought those essays were all the cooler for it. And, as far as the Empire enslaving a race courtesy of a space-battle-related disaster, that didn't come across as enslaving. Rather, it...

    a few ship questions.

That sounds pretty rockin, and it might even make P2 hard. Too bad you can't do boarding actions.

Gary Whitta Doesn't Like Wing Commander!

Why burn Civ3? It's Civ2 with better graphics, a little more variety, and unique units. (and what's the dif between Civ1 and Civ2? I never had the chance to play the original.)

    Crazy Nazi Kitten Impaler!

mmm... we don't have enough exposure to violence in America's culture. Or tolerance for mind-affecting substances.

    Wing Commander:Tactics Gettisburg

Probably because a "cruiser" larger than an assault carrier without any space wasted on fighters probably packs a huge punch. I don't know about "dreadnaught" as I haven't been able to shoot at one yet, and you can apply that to anything you want. "Cruiser" is relative... the Ticonderoga we...

    I'd buy him a beer

even speaking against one's own government is acceptable once said governemnt has displayed a certain level of disinterest in what the people are saying *cough* but manning a gun that kills the *soldiers*, who are just going out to do what they are required by law and threat to their personal...

    I'd buy him a beer

I don't think even people who were against the Vietnam war (me, in principle and because they tried to draft my father on his 17th birthday - the recruiting officer was a prick) are fond of Fonda and her actions. Kerry... is mixed IMO. There's too much "KERRY BAD! AMERICANS DONT COMMIT...

    saving my rep

I don't recall saving the hide of an ejected pirate ever ruining your rep. It's not the most lawful thing to do, but it is rather humanitarian (and saving pirates from Kats tends to pad your pocket right quick... XXN-1127 or somesuch often has a mission for $47k that you can survive with a fast...

A question for the techheads - The Banshee

Has anyone tried scaling Blair to a cockpit, then going with relative sizes from that? We've got good ones from WC3, and a couple really good ones from WC2. Working from those should be easy enough, as I think there are either direct or indirect links to everywhere in the continuity.

A question for the techheads - The Banshee

Also, 43 metres isn't exactly unprecedented... the Dragon lists as 40, the Longbow at 38, and the Broadsword, which is even wider for the length and probably almost as wide as the Banshee, at 36 (in an era of miniature fighters, and with only one crew plus gunners)

    boarding

I like that idea. Few in their right mind would take out the enemy solo, but having your "mercs" or "crew" fly over to hijack the enemy ship is reasonable, with a random chance of success, failure, etc. At most, I think a "boarding mode" similar to your dinky little ejection pod would be...

Finals, finals, it's the happiest time of the year!

Only one left, two weeks from now. I love the ability to do double-speed courses at the local university. Then again, I'm taking a break from serious academics and getting into auto repair, so when the final involves one hour of classroom time and then getting neck-deep in a fluid change and...
