    Battle for the Verdun

... What mission was this? Somehow I don't remember it. At all.

    Cloaking

This is awesome. Now, if we could just play it... *drools*

    You prefered simulator ship?

Well, the Sabre is NOT a dogfighter. Think F-4 Phantom's; they pack some serious power, but it can't turn well at all. It's a straight-line fighter that has to deal with its enemy on the first pass or else it's in trouble. That's how I view the Sabre. It does have the damage, but it can't turn...

    Battle for the Verdun

I've never that hard a time saving the Verdun - and personally I hate the navmap. I never used it and was still able to save the Verdun - though I shall admit that she still got one torp up the... docking bay. At least she was still in one piece.

    You prefered simulator ship?

I like the Rapier in-game, because I find it more manuverable than the Sabre while still packing quite a nice punch (at least better than any other fighter i've had to fly off the Firreka). In the simulator? Morningstar, all the way. I've been a heavy fighter jock for a long time - the...

    Post WC4 Fleet info

Well, I suppose you're right. It's just me; I seem to remember these things getting spanked rather frequently. Well, my mistake. It's been a while since I played it; it was always the fighters/bombers getting 'em. I should apologise for jumping the gun like that. Chris: Yeah, part of it did...

    Post WC4 Fleet info

Yeah - the Plunkett-class should have been able to last a lot longer in the game. Who in their right mind would make a glass cannon like that? A ship of that size and design should be able to last longer than that. But, look at it this way - it could have been worse

    Post WC4 Fleet info

Hmm... it might work. Out of curiosity, is it supposed to be like some sort of competitive/contemporary design to the Midway, or is this completely unrelated? Just curious. By the way... 4,000 meters is mighty dang bang by WC standards. The Vesuvius (Vesuvii?) are about 1600 meters long, and...

    Concordia vs Hakaga

True, but as Confed marines were to find out, they're pretty thin on the inside. We've seen what flash-paks can do; it might not destroy the Hakaga completely, but oh she'd be hurtin...

    Post WC4 Fleet info

The Lexington as the last ship of its kind? I find that extremely unlikely. First off, the game is more or less official backstory, and the bok deviated a fair ways from the game. If it wasn't mentioned in the game Price of Freedom, i'd take it with a grain of salt. Secondly, the...

    Post WC4 Fleet info

Well, to my knowledge most of what they used was still WC3 era technology - much of it was quite new at the time and is still quite viable. The Border Worlds had some older craft and the Black Lance wickedly sick technology, but the Confederation itself seemed to retain most of it's fleet...

This game is still alive but EA wants to kill it

The Nephelim just weren't threating. They tried to make them doom incarnate, but the Kitty's were always the ultimate in bad guys. They were such a unique sort of alien... we'd never really seen an alien like that before. And not just in looks, in motivations. The Kilrath descended into new...

This game is still alive but EA wants to kill it

Wing Commander can simply never die. Someone will always carry it on, if only in their hearts. But, let's take a look at the money they've made. WC3, on a 4 million dollar budget, went beyond platinum. I believe the last figure I heard (though i'm not sure how exact it was) was 2.2 million...

Ah, chris is right. Forget I ever said it.

    balancing

The 85-90% damage thing can be kind of difficult;l it depends on what you're flying. If you're using a Morningstar, you tend to horribly overkill a lot of fighters. Same with the Wraith - they have amazing firepower. But, if you're flying a Rapier, or even a Stilleto or Ferret, you'd have a lot...

    Concordia vs Hakaga

I suppose the ultimate question would be... Vesuvius vs. Hakaga? Think about that for a second... both are massive, extremely well armored, and carry a butt-load of fighters. I'm not sure as to how well armed the Hakaga is, but we know that the Vesuvius packs one hell of mean punch...

WC4 Mod For Homeworld 2 In The Works (June 5, 2006)

Light carrier, escort carrier... there really isn't all that much difference. That Victory's a little larger and a little tougher, that's about it. Probably carries a few more fighters too. BTW czacen, did you get that PM I sent you? If so, what'd you think? Workable ideas or no?

    Star Trek: Favorite Class...

I have this odd preference for the underdog... so Ambassador is one of my favorites. It had plenty of firepower and shielding (according do DITL, about as much as the Nebula), and it just had that deception aspect to it. It's got about the wussiest name, but it'll beat you senseless in no time...

    F-104 vs. MiG-21

Where in heck did you get that idea? I said 'skill', not 'dangerous and stupid'. It does not put a pilot at greater risk; well, in comparison to the F-22, yes it would be riskier to fly because it isn't very stealthy (at all); my point was it isn't just a 'push the damn button' kind of machine...

    F-104 vs. MiG-21

Read my name. Crazy J. I'm inexpliacble ;) My standpoint comes from the fact that comparatively (between these two, not just fighters in general) the F-15 takes more skill to win in a dogfight. I didn't say the F-22 was a bad fighter at all; it's a good airplane. My personal feelings and...
