    Atmosphere capable?

Maybe that's why it sucks as a starfighter? :p

    Atmosphere capable?

I think it all depends what you want to define as 'atmospheric capable'. I think that most of the fighters should be/are capable of flying through an atmosphere. However, there is a large difference between flying in an atmosphere and being capable of combat in an atmosphere.

    Afterburners, how do they work?

Rocket engines work just fine in space ... you just need to take your own oxygen with you to burn. The 'afterburners' in WC are most likely very different in operation to the afterburners on current jets. However, their purpose remains the same - to provide a large and rapid acceleration at...

Is that their missiles, or your missiles? :D

    Yayayaya

True, Basil writes some good stuff. Starship troopers and Conan the Barbarian are my 'picks'. Still, sometimes he lacks originality, e.g. parts of his Robocop soundtrack sound identical to Conan the Destroyer. Not that I'm complaining too much, but a slightly less blatent copy would have been...

Shield killer cannon and RPG request

Anti-missile guns huh? Doesn't seem like the right place for 'em. I'd want them on my butt, not my nose :D.

    Killing Krant

Unfortunately, Krants have better shields, armor and manouvreability then the Scim, so you're going to have to beat them with piloting skills :(. Don't go head-to-head with a Krant in a Scim. Your mass drivers do significantly more damage then the Krant's lasers, but the lasers have a lot...

This has been bugging me for some time now...

Not mentioning the fact that to pull a 10-g turn you would still have a turning radius of 100,000 km. Just as well those fighters have acceleration absorbers :)

why was the Arrow's speed lowered after Armada?

On earth, fighter aircraft require a cat launch to get them above stalling speed before they hit the end of the deck. In space, however, there is nothing to prevent a ship just crawling off the flight deck at whatever speed it chooses. So launching via cat is really a question of 'want'...

    Smilies

Is it possible to place just text smilies, rather then replacing them all with the graphics? That way you can use them freely and in the manner in which they were intended - to convey an emotion or facial expression, and you don't have to worry about exceeding your smiley limit or other peoples...

    Privateer 2 ending

I think the thing is that if you start giving him a past, you risk giving him a future. The whole point of the game is that Lev has no clear picture of his past, so he (i.e. you) is really free to make up his own choices on where he wants his life to go. So you can play at being a pirate, or...

    WC1/ movie... just noticing

Ummm, yes. Certainly the worst attempt at an 'Australian' accent that I have ever heard. I think the problem is that it looked (and sounded) like it the original (Australian?) actress had been dubbed into Chinese, and then dubbed back into what someone over there thought was an Australian...

Yeah, it could have been worse. Anyone remember Jackie Chan's First Strike?

    Ferrets

The 'problem' with the Rapier is that it is a light/medium fighter, not a heavy. Like I said in my previous post about the Epee, you just have to learn to play to its strengths, which are ... Speed : While slower then an Epee or Ferret, the Rapier is still faster than anything the Kats have...

    Ferrets

The Epee isn't as bad as it's made out to be. You just have to play to its strengths, which are ... 1. Speed. It's 80kps faster then anything the Kilrathi have (except perhaps the Bloodfang :) ) 2. Manouvreablilty. It's the most manouvreable ship in the game by at least 25%. 3...

    Excals and T-bolts in WCPSO

You do now :D At least, you can in WC3. I don't know about the WCP.

    Excals and T-bolts in WCPSO

A tip for using the Excal (in WC3 at least) is to turn OFF the Autotracking on your guns before engaging large/slow ships. With Autotracking on, the guns consume about 2-3 times the power of with them off. Against light fighters, the autotracking is great. Against heavies and capships, turn...

    Excals and T-bolts in WCPSO

The borderworlds might have had Dragons/Lances, but I doubt they have the parts to keep them operational.

    Flashpaks

I seem to recall we had this argument some time ago. We know they have some limitations to their use. Although they are effective against many (older?) hull types, they are unable to penetrate certain materials/hulls e.g. the outer hull of the Versuvius. To my knowledge, there is nothing...

A discussion on the true nature of the Nephilim

Yeah. Remember that one of your early missions in WCP is to escort Dekker and his men to what is left of a Kilrathi fleet that has run into the bugs. The Kilrathi may not have much new stuff in the same league as the Midways or Versuvii, but they certainly have some heavy stuff left.
