    Hellcat = Piece of Junk

Yeah, fun game. I couldn't get my shields to recharge though. :)

    Wingmen Experience Level

Not too sure if this applies to certain WC games, but in some games your wingman skill also depends on how well YOU are doing. i.e. if you are a a very skillful pilot (lotsa kills) then the wingman intelligence drops so you have to do more of the work. If you aren't doing very well and die a...

    Movie best parts!

Apart from being in just about every sub movie, and Empire Strikes Back, the Concordia did the same thing in WC2. I personally felt a number of the things done in the movie were quite good. It made a nice change to have battered, cramped vessels. To me that is far more 'realistic' then the...

    Hobbes - cartoon connection ??

    Swarmer missiles

I would imagine that they are Anti-matter guns, which seemed to be the capship weapon'o'choice in those days, except for the Connie's PTC of course. I found one way to get past them was to start in fairly slowly at an angle to the capship (just keeping the torp locked of course) and hope that...

    Swarmer missiles

Still, the Torp-lock music in WC2 was pretty cool ... at least the first 50 times I heard it.

    Hobbes - cartoon connection ??

I doubt it. Spaceman Spiff goes through ships faster then I go through sixpacks.

    WC1 and WCP killscores

Well, if you look at the spec's, the Kat ships are generally equal or better then the human ships ... so I guess that just makes them worse pilots. Still, I agree the bugs are far too easy to pop ... especially when every single little piece of those ray/remoras and skates count as a kill.

    WC1 and WCP killscores

I seriously doubt that we fly every mission Blair (or Casey for that matter) has been on. I mean, even experienced pilots have to take their turn at patrols, but who wants to play a mission where you fly figure-8s round a capship for a couple of hours :P. We probably get most of the 'combat'...

    Hobbes - cartoon connection ??

Well, Hobbes (the human) WAS a philosopher, and Hobbes the Kat is supposedly named after great philosopher. But then again, (Calvin &) Hobbes is also somewhat of a philosopher. Basically, it wouldn't suprise me in the least if he was named after Calvin's companion.

    WC1 and WCP killscores

Personally, I hate the way those Ray/Remora and Skate bits all count as seperate ships. Clearly the sensible thing to do is to break them up as quickly as possible, because they are far more dangerous when clustered. However this cuts down your kill score 'cos your wingmen start shooting the...

    Space warship architecture

Look at the real world. Ships ARE very vulnerable to fighters. A large percentage of US warship losses in WW2 were to Japanese carrier planes, and vice versa. If two navies were to engage in a battle today, how many would be lost in ship-to-ship gun battles? Pretty close to none, I would...

    TCS Tarawa

I believe that authority comes firstly of course from rank, and then from who has held that rank longer. So someone who has been a captain for two days will outrank someone who has just been made captain. Thus a 30yr old captain could outrank a 40yr old captain, if they achieved the rank...

Radio Silence, when have you ever used it?

Gotta question. I too, also flew the last missions solo. So, if you choose Flint as your chick-o-choice, and then take her to Kilrah and get her 'killed', what ending do you get? Is she suddenly miraculously saved and sitting in the shuttle beside Blair?

    Regs, Maniac, and so forth

My guess is that they took a look at Maniacs personality/psych profile and put a big rubber stamp on his file "NOT TO COMMAND UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!". His excellent combat record means that they will probably bend a few rules to keep him around, but he will never be promoted to Colonel and...

Radio Silence, when have you ever used it?

Well, technically "Break and Attack" translates to "go find yourself a target, I don't care which one", as opposed to attacking a specific target, guarding the wing-leader, avoiding combat etc. In WC1 to 4, you are always the Wing Leader (Even in WC1, they they place you in charge of Spirits...

    Ejection bashings

I always figured that, in a full-on war like the Kilrathi war, the desire for replacement pilots on the front lines would outstrip the supply from any 'Top Gun' style acadamy style training program. It would be like the good'ol days of WWI and II - give 'em a weeks basic training and get 'em in...

    Privateer idea

Yeah, he probably just stuffs it under his seat, rather then having it bumping around in his cargo hold.
