Starlancer had exactly that. Each fighter had X seconds of afterburner, and adding external fuel tanks increased the afterburner time. Then again, missiles sucked hard on Starlancer.

That's LCD's fault. CRTs do a much better job of displaying the subtle shade differences. I can see them fine, in this ole trusty 17" CRT.

Well, when you're playing the game for the 10th time, you tend to focus on getting a 100% kills in all missions. WCP is the hardest game to do this, due to the several multi-wing missions, where you can't tell the other guys to stand down.
