    Most desired Non-Playable fighter?

    Really? How/where? (regarding the Manta)

    Most desired Non-Playable fighter?

    Which fighter would you most like to fly from the WC games that isn't a playable craft? (e.g. Razor, Paktahn, Salthi, Devil Ray, etc.) Personally, I would love to try the WC2 Strakha, the WC3 bloodfang, or a WCP Manta!

    A Space Carrier Ship Simulation

    I don't think you can find it in stores... I might be wrong though. From my understanding, it's only available by download.

    A Space Carrier Ship Simulation

    Google starshatter and click on the first link. There is also homeworld and homeworld 2, though those are RTS's and not space flight simulators.

    Gatling weapons

    I liked the stormfire too- but I almost wonder if Pioneer would become unbalanced with it. My recollection of the stormfire in WC4 was that it was the best overall gun- high damage, no refire delay, medium range, no overheating. The only real downsides to it were limited ammo, and only medium...

    Confed battleship design

    Does anyone actually know the material used to build warships in that time period? I mean... sure, you can speculate that it was built of the same material, but as WC3 v. WC2 showed us, the thickness of durasteel (or whatever the substitute was in WC3 that was measured in cm. of durasteel)...

    WC2 Armaments

    On an aside- the fact that space isn't particle free is why I've always thought that "block shaped" spacecraft are a somewhat silly idea- any thoughts? To loop WC into this- I always wondered why Confed or Kilrah would ever build a capital ship or fighter that wasn't at least somewhat...

    WC2 Armaments

    What ever happened to the law of inertia? This whole alleged lack of a shockwave by a nuclear blast in space doesn't square off against it. To my knowledge (which is admittedly somewhat limited, as I have never studied nuclear physics), nuclear reactions don't require a medium to travel (such...

    WC Fleet Engagements

    Yeah, a modern bomber can cause damage to a carrier in modern day navel ops.... if it can get through fighter screens, the AEGIS air defense system, the phalanx point defense system, etc.- real naval ships aren't something to sneer at, and aren't really easy targets .... unlike most WC capships...

    Durango Class

    Well, what exactly does light entail? A "light" fighter complement in comparison to a heavy carrier can still be a whole lot of fighters.

    WC Fleet Engagements

    Which is why Confederate forces routinely assign two ship elements to take down single destroyers and their entire associated fighter complements. :)

    WC Fleet Engagements

    I just think its funny that people love using the WWII analogy so much when talking about the role of Capships in WC, though I laugh at the thought of a Mustang with a dive bomb or two or a scout plane armed with nothing but a cannon being able to take down the likes of a ship like the Yamato...

    WC Fleet Engagements

    I disagree- you can nerf fighters or strengthen capships and still retain the spirit of a WC game- intense spaceflight combat with a great plot. I think the idea would be to retain fighters as a critical part of a Confederation battle group- but not to make them so powerful in relation to every...

    WC Fleet Engagements

    Maybe the answer would be to make smaller capships lack the armament to drive off a fighter attack effectively on their own- for instance, enable it so a pair of torpedo bombers could take out a destroyer with the judicious use of missile decoys and afterburners, or, in the alternative, if it...

    WC Fleet Engagements

    ~~~, i agree with DeFrancoj, but the answer has nothing to do with practicality, it has more to do with giving players more interesting things to destroy in-game (e.g. a destroyer sprite vs. a transport sprite). I know that a majority (or at least a vocal minority) of this community hates...
    WC2 Armaments
    Unless they equipped Mace missiles with a mechanism that didn't arm the missile to explode until it travelled a certain distance from launch (like a real world submarine torpedo). They would be great as capship defense armament against large fighter/bomber formations or against corvettes...
    Fan Mod Idea for C&C Renegade
    Renegade's worth the nine bucks it costs anyway- it's a solid FPS, despite it's less then stellar sales.
    Worst Fighter?
    I'd say the Hellcat- too slow, too underarmed, and too undershielded- it had nothing going for it. At least the Epee was fast, the Vindicator had an extensive loadout, the Bearcat was good except for it's wide firing arc, and the bombers weren't too bad if you got good with the turrets (and in...
    Star lancer?
    I dunno- hitting the original topic of the thread- it wasn't shooting down torps that bugged me (gameplaywise) so much in Starlancer as in the vast majority of missions had at least one segment dedicated to escorting something with the armor, speed, and armament of a lawn tractor (off the top of...
    Star Wars Empire at War demo released
    I decided to chance the full version after enjoying the demo (I haven't played a large scale space empire building game in a while). I have a couple pet peeves with it: The ridiculously low unit count- You can build as many units as you want, but you can only "warp in" or "shuttle in" 20...
