I'm not sure if the versions were different, but on nightmare, even when aiming, the ship often exploded only a shot or two after the turret. Maybe this is because my shots from farther away are missing the turret and hitting the ship. Even so, when you get close enough to aim well at the...

    Wing Commander 3 Ranked 14 on gamedaily.com

If it wasn't for the Kilrathi trying to destroy an entire planet with Bioweapons, destroying Kilrah may have been a tougher decision (assuming you hadn't read the Forstchen books). Prior to that, it seemed the Kilrathi enslaved planets but never resorted to mass genocide of civilian...

    Corvette blues

A few years back, I remember arguing in favor of the auto tracking Excalibur guns as being very valuable and not just for lazy pilots or those with bad marksmanship. Strafing runs on a corvette is a perfect example. If you have any of the other fighters, you must expose yourself to rear turret...

    Toughest Fighters

Ok, so the one with the mine was my toughest fighter from WC1

    Corvette blues

I agree with this. It's a good argument for the deadliness of Corvettes. I actually had a tougher time with the Prophecy Corvettes than I did in WC3. I always seemed to take some kind of damage against them. It seemed much tougher to completely avoid turret fire with your flying skills...

    Toughest Fighters

Ok, thanks for clarifying. I seem to distinctly remember a slow red ball coming out of the back of one on the SNES version, but then again I have an active imagination that could be getting in the way of my memory.

    WCPedia sources?

That's awesome. You guys may want to put WC1 PC version or something like that especially for offshoot information like the Rostov ice cream treat (WC1 SNES) and Rostov alchoholic beverage (WC1 PC). I'm not sure if I was right about the Rostov references, but I wanted to give an example that...

    Toughest Fighters

WC1: I think I recall one of the Kilrathi fighters having a rear turret that was annoying, so I would say that one (Jalthi or Gratha?). WCStandoff: (didn't play WC2, so thought I'd reference this fan game with some WC2 fighters): Gothri, the rear turret was deadly and it also had a lot of...

    WCPedia sources?

I was just wondering if a place for sources could be added to the WCPedia entries? I've been reading through them and have came accross info that I hadn't read about in the books or heard from the games and was wondering where it came from. For instance, the pilot "high scores" on the TCS...

    Website update - March 6, 2009

That last screenshot looks pretty grim; about 25 enemies dotting the screen and only 2 friendlies; and one of them might be the Tarsus that's about to explode.

    Where to start

The most successful fan games so far have been Unknown Enemy and Standoff. You may want to ask those guys what to use.

    Corvette blues

I found corvettes to be easy to handle in WC3. Maybe when I was new at it they may have been tough, but I can't remember. I'd either have the Excalibur or the Arrow. I'd just avoid flying in a straight line when getting into position whether it was flying close enough to fire accurately or...

    Need help retreating!

TIPS FOR RETREATING: I think this is one mission that I took the difficulty level down from nightmare in order to destroy the snakier. I didn't have much of a problem retreating on any difficulty level though. I asked for wingmen to help me out and/or attack my targets as I fled. I think I...

    bug report

The bug I was talking about at the start of this thread may have to do with Prophecy/Secret Ops not having an exit to click on. To leave the game, you press escape and quit to windows. When I'm in Standoff and press escape then quit to windows it quits just fine with no problems.

That's true, I was struggling with that, but then figured our European counterparts wouldn't be as random since they're closer to Luxembourge, so I used Americans as an example. I love all you guys, I promise! Especially our German fans could be my wingmen any day judging by their sim scores.

    Check this out

The internet is an interesting thing.. someone posts pictures in Luxembourge and might get odd requests from seemingly random American Wing Commander fans... "What's the location of that fighter? What program are you using to computerize your photos? etc." Guess you guys could now find out...

I think Spako's name is Véronique Fixmer. Veronique's newsblog with the Wing Commander picture is here: http://www.spako.lu/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=1&Itemid=2. No time to investigate more, I really need to go to bed (if I can even fall asleep). You can contact...
