    The Great Dralthi-esque Hunt!

To a lesser extent, these fighters from Terminal Velocity had a similar 'forward wing' design.

    Eagle One discussion

We take a moment of silence after a death for a reason. There is a time to spout off your gripes about those who've passed, but this isn't it, nor the place. Eagle didn't murder anyone, or slaughter children. There's no good reason to take this as an opportunity to kick a man while he's down...

Point of Origin: Vol. III, No. 36 (December 8, 2007)

I remember that my brother and I got Academy from Lechmere shortly after its release, and I believe we got it for $40, as well.

Wing One, Take Two (December 8, 2007)

It does exist. You'll just be hard-pressed to find any from the last 10-15 years. The Atari / Commodore era of 8-bit gaming is full of Abandonware. Alley Cats, Necromancer, etc - a lot of games from that time had publishers that totally disbanded, or self-marketted games that never picked up...

    Wing Commander Arena Dogfight Night

I should have mentioned sooner; I'm in the US, East Coast specifically, so this is probably going to work out better for North Americans. Still, if someone overseas wants to handle a European / Asian / whatever variant, that'd be more than welcome.

    Deus Ex 3 announced

Consequently, much of that team went on to create Deus Ex 1, and some of them worked on 2. ;) Now there's even less of them involved on 3. Not saying that it's going to be terrible, it just seems that games are going that way nowadays - at least, compared to their earlier installments...

Wing One, Take Two (December 8, 2007)

Actually, Abandonware is any software / game whose creating company / publisher has closed its doors and no longer exists. It is not an IP that a publisher / developer has decided to stop working on, IE, Wing Commander (before Arena). It's difficult to find true abandonware. In many cases...

    Anyone have an SWC Rapier?

The general shape and cockpit look similar in configuration to the WC2 rapier, but that's about it. Add a couple winglets, and it'd close to the Arena Rapier. The textures need a little more grit and value variance. It's causing a lot of the flatness (other than the lack of bump mapping).

    Wing Commander Arena Dogfight Night

Hey guys; please participate in the poll. It'll help me to gauge when the majority of people are the most available for a weekly Wing Commander Arena game night. I'll be keeping a killboard for every game I happen to attend - a chore that a volunteer could pick up in the event I cannot make...

Of all the weeks that movie had to take place in, it had to be that week. ;)

    Lt. Dibbles

You're talking about a lass that never existed, nugget. One thing to note about the 'unveiling' of that practice in the film; when Blair storms out of the mess and Angel persues him, she's all "Who the hell do you think you are?" Her anger always seemed unwarranted to me. If anything...

Do more than 3 people play this game?

I've played the demo for Legend, wasn't very impressed... So I may hold off of Anniversary. As for Creed - it's gotten mixed reviews, the negative ones centerred around the 'early plot twist' (which I don't see the big deal about. It sets the tone for the sequel), and the repetition of the...

    Best First Mission (Main Series)

I'd have to say Wing 4 was the most exciting, although I may have to select SM2.

Do more than 3 people play this game?

I never was much of a Tomb Raider guy. Which one are you playing, Anniversary? Is it good? I've been thinking about getting it, although the free-running in Assassin's Creed may have spoiled me.

IGN counts top 100 games of all time

YES, THANK YOU. Anyway, the most aptly named reviewer over on IGN is Stephen (Steven?) Butts. Yes, Butts. He was a guy who imagined a typo in UFO: Aftermath and based his entire negative review off of expounding it. The aliens in the game were called the Reticulans, but somewhere he...

I can't say enough about the font kerning... That is a wonderful preview.

Do more than 3 people play this game?

I keep meaning to log on. I can't whilst at work, since our firewall blocks IRC protocols and the like, so it all depends on whether or not I remember to after I get home. I seem to always miss you on Live, LOAF; you're not on when I log on, but after I finish playing a game I notice you were...

    Lt. Dibbles

Y'know, I've thought about making a few 'Hornet's Nest' strips, just for fun, and to commemorate 'ol Dibbles / WC. But since my current comic is on hiatus, I don't think I could justify it to my readers, heh.

Do more than 3 people play this game?

I'm reluctant to start a tournament proper, per se, since people's schedules aren't set in stone. I can guarantee that we'll have trouble with some no-show's and bad follow-throughs. A weekly 'game night', however, isn't attender-specific and can spark interest in a tournament down the line...
