    Morningstar or Sabre?

    Well, there's also the Gothri, a ship that felt like a reverse-engineered Sabre, right down to the missile loadouts. The designer who decided to pit you against them while flying a Crossbow was just plain sadistic.

    Morningstar or Sabre?

    Ah, thanks! I knew it was a large number, even if I don't recall just how large. And in addition... Not the same, but they do have a similar space frame shape, especially from the top and back.

    But Is It Ours? (February 27, 2007)

    I'm really excited about seeing old ships return, and hoping to see some 'second tier' military equipment as well. (Remember all those fighters in Privateer, that would've been so much vape-bait for a Rapier or Sabre?) Anyone keeping track of ships that've been mentioned?

    Morningstar or Sabre?

    Number is probably over by a bit. The very last K'Tithrak Mang mission in WC2 seemed to have nothing but torpedoes on the Sabre. Oh, and I was wrong about the Morningstar, apparently it can carry two torpedoes. I really need to get the game reinstalled so I can play it again.

    Morningstar or Sabre?

    pretty has its price - notice how the Morningstar becomes anorexic and ends up a Stiletto? :p I know I started a thread on that two years ago, but I looked back and realize why they look alike - Delta wings, twin dorsal fins, ventral fins, canards, bubble cockpits on the front of the nose...

    Morningstar or Sabre?

    Alright, so it looks like that there are several overlaps in the WC2 inventory. First up - If you had a choice, would you take the Morningstar or the Sabre? Me? Ah'm a Sabre man. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Mace Tactical Nuke in the mornin' as much as the next guy, but I don't...

    WC1/2 Launch Sequence Inspiration

    between the WW2 dogfights-in-space nature of most space sims, and the the WC similarities to the Pacific theatre naval battles, was *anyone* surprised? ;-)

    Flashpack background

    Haven't played Prophecy, but it has been the trend up to X-wing Alliance. Don't remember Starlancer, but Freelancer has them explode and leave a couple large chunks I was just thinking about how nailing something the size of the WC2 Concordia or Agincourt might cripple it (main guns...

    Flashpack background

    Interesting... so in other words it's treated in-game as a super-torpedo, but doesn't have very specific fluff, so we don't know what happens if it is activated in say, vacuum, or the atmosphere of a planet Speaking of Capships, am I the only one vaguely irked by the sci-fi tendency for them...

    Flashpack background

    Haven't played WC4, so I'm curious what this Flashpack/Flashpak thing is. Couldn't find a good description of it, so I'm asking :( What is it? What does it do? How does it work? Who made it? What happend to it in the timeline? Thanks

    Your first Wing Commander experience?

    A family friend used to always have WC1 on their old 386 when I was little, so soon after I got my first bank card (I was 11), I picked up the EA classics Wing Commander 2 at a Computer city (now closed down) and Privateer at a Zellers clearance. When I was done, I had about 3 dollars left in...

    Favorite Ships

    Loved the Sabre and Morningstar. However.... *looks around* GO EPEE! *runs away*

    Morningstar==>Stilleto

    except that it seems you get to fly a lot of strike missions unescorted. In WC2 anyway, only the Broadsword could jump, so that was something for it, but a homogenous Sabre strike (missile sabres escorting torp sabres) would've been able to move faster, and could tangle with the fighters prior...

    Morningstar==>Stilleto

    nono, it happens, some forums I've been on, new posters start new topics that have had 7 or 8 previous discussions, or have one huge conclusice, 20 page thread that's 3 years old, so they don't want to add to it changing track a bit, I wonder why they ever bother assigning you a broadsword...

    Morningstar==>Stilleto

    well, I also didn't want to reanimate an old thread :D A lot of people in the other thread pointed out that in comparison to a WW2 fighter, the F-16 and F/A-18 would look similar, but comparing to planes of the same generation, you'd find certain similarities due to other reasons the...

    Morningstar==>Stilleto

    Am I the only one that finds these two ships look rather closely related? Is there a fluff reason? Did the they use the same aerdynamics data (like the MiG-29 and Su-27), or is it just 'one of those things'? I have the old Sybex Wing Commander Universe guide, and with the exception of...

    Green, but still ugly.

    Am I the only one who thinks it looks like an A-10 that's had the fusalege between the tail and the cockpit chopped off, the wings clipped, and the gun blown up 50 times?

    Who loves the Raptor?

    I second the showroom comment. One can imagine the Raptor parked by the floor-to-ceiling window to draw in the shoppers so they can get sold a scimitar :D

    Copying Privateer and WC 2 Deluxe CDs

    Hi, I have the old EA Classics Collection WC2 and Privateer CD's Both are a little dinged up, and I'd like to make a new copy of each just in case. However, if at all possible, I'd like to copy both onto one CD and save a little space. Is this possible? Both are quite old, but even some...
