    I hate to be a downer, but I'll believe it when I see it. These projects die slow, horrible deaths as soon as a new president/congress cuts funding, which seems to be every five years or so.

    It's a shame they cancelled the centrifuge accomodations module. Imagine it, people working in space in a module with phony gravity. It's not anti-gravity, but it'd have been a really interesting step that could have had long-term repercussions on future manned spaceflight. Oh, well.

    Clearly they did it to keep people too busy to buy Final Fantasy XIII. They must still have a beef with Square-Enix since they bought out EA's shares and shut down Square Electronic Arts in 2003. Let it go, EA, it's been seven years.

    That's right, sound cards were an enormous leap forward. I remember the first time I heard one, it was at one of my dad's office parties in the late 1980s and they had a computer set up to play midi tunes and it felt to me as if the future had arrived.

    That's part of why I liked it so much, it was like being in a bizarre bit of brit sci-fi.
