I had the impression that it was hated from the get-go. I didn't even watch it in the theaters because of the awful trailer and reviews by other fans. Even on DVD I waited a long time till I got around watching it. And what can I say? I wasn't impressed.

I agree. I for myself would have liked it, if he would have mourned for the rest of WC3 and then have gone after Panther (meow) in WC4. A mean goldfish. He is in a retirement home and bragging about his heroic deeds to the displeasure of his cohabitants :D

I really like it. Every time I watch it, it gets better. Someday, when I find an appropriate song, I will try my hand at a character driven Wing Commander music video myself. It's time I did a WC3 one. The problem is, there is no camera movement there.

Yes, it was intentional. At the execution announcement I raised the volume and at the accusations I kept it low. Is it really hard to understand them at all? If yes, I will adjust it slightly. I wanted to keep the music in the foreground at that point and only at the end the announcement louder...
