    Bearcat

Would you consider the Kilrathi's short-lived Sorthak a super-fighter of its day?

    Countermeasures

ECM packages were around only in Privateer, as I recall it. There were no countermeasures at all in the PC version of WC1.

    Bearcat

Any of you find the Bearcat a little TOO maneuverable to shoot straight with? In my experience, it was difficult to aim your guns for a target properly with the Bearcat turning in one direction so fast.

    Countermeasures

An interesting hypothesis, Ijuin. It gives sense to the development of countermeasure systems over the years of the Terran-Kilrathi war.

    Countermeasures

In WC1, the fighters you flew, and every other fighter you went up against, didn't have countermeasures. But did countermeasures actually exist in the 2650's, or were missiles deemed as too slow or ineffective to warrant the production of decoys, ECM packages, and chaff pods back in those days?

    Hey, It's Favoire CrapFighter(tm) time!

Have any of you ever come across a WC fighter that you would judge as TOO maneuverable for its own good? As in, so maneuverable that it would be difficult to get an enemy fighter within your crosshairs, because the whole ship turns too fast in one direction? I think the Dralthi Mk II was like...

    Hey, It's Favoire CrapFighter(tm) time!

Epee gets the favourite crappy fighter for me. Never cared much for a fighter with paper-thin shields and insufficient armour, although I admit it was a challenge to fly and to use its speed and maneuverability to their fullest potential. The only fighter worse than that I can think of is...

    TCS Austin

Sorry. I neglected to say that I might have been considering a cruiser like the Austin in a fanfic I'm writing up.

    TCS Austin

What cruiser class was the TCS Austin? And what did it look like? Help please.

    Favorite Carrier

It was a hard choice between the Tiger's Claw and the Concordia. But since I played WC2 first, and served aboard the Concordia for longest, I guess it gets the vote.

    What did you prefer?

Yeah, I used to lose my target tracker on the most vital of missions, like on the torpedo run on the K'tithrak Mang or the destroy Ralatha mission with Jazz on my wing.

The Royal Starship did use a Nubian 327 class 1.8 hyperdrive.

    Best and Worst WC acting?

Is there a difference between a Commander Air Group and a Commander Flight Group (or it could've been Commander Fighter Group, but I'm not sure)? I know that Angel was the Commander Flight Group of the Concordia during WC2.

    What did you prefer?

While it was annoying to have my guns shot off, my missiles scrapped while they were still on their hardpoints, and the engines reduced to garbage (which could happen at the most inconvenient of times), it did give the first two Wing Commander games a better sort of challenge and realism, at...

    Accel. absorbers and repair system

Anyone remember how in WC1 and WC2 your fuel tanks could get damaged. Did this cause a sped up consumption of your fuel? I never noticed the difference.

    Weight matters in space?

While we're on the topic of speed and such, what exact purpose did the acceleration absorbers of a fighter serve? I remember they were among the components of the fighters of WC1 and WC2 that could be damaged. The damage report always showed the acceleration absorbers as being destroyed, but did...

    Weight matters in space?

In the WC4 mission, where you first had to fly a recon mission in the 'Dead Zone' of the Peleus System, why did Pliers' extra armour plating affect the speed of the fighter you chose to fly by decreasing it? Pliers' mentions that the engines would be under strain from all that extra weight, so...
