One thing I've noticed is that GOG is running dosbox at 4000 cycles for Wing Commander 1. I did a playthrough at 5000 cycles a while back and it seemed fine.
You might give that a try. In your GOG.com\Wing Commander 1 and 2\WC\dosboxWC.conf, change "cycles=4000" to "cycles=5000"
There's no...
The guys at Mega64 made a silly video tribute to Warren Spector, who is receiving this year's GDC Lifetime Achievement Award.
It's silly, and there's no mention of his work at Origin. But, hey, it's Warren Spector. Or, at least, pictures of him.
Right. We're not the kind of community that promotes division. There might be some bad blood here and there, but it's between people, not projects.
Anyone who says "Standoff vs Saga" in the sense of refusing to play one or the other is an utter fool. Playing another great Wing Commander fan...
Don't get me wrong -- I love Standoff as much as the next guy, but it will never be canon. At best, one might consider it fanon when making their own works.
Sorry to nitpick. It's just that the word "canon" gets incorrectly thrown around a lot, and it just tends to confuse people when that...
Maybe, but I'm not aware of one. Super Wing Commander is very rare to find nowadays, and it's also rare (though perhaps less so for the Mac version) to find a system/console capable of running it.
FreeDO may be a possibility for such an endeavor, though.
I hope someone shows up with a...
It's part of Super Wing Commander (for Mac and 3DO), which, instead of SM2, contains a set of missions where the Tiger's Claw hunts down and destroys the shipyards that created the Sivar.
It's true. Wing Commander gets into your blood. I once drew up the intro to Wing Commander 2 in storyboard form when I was 9 or 10. I wish I still had that.
It's not whether EULAs are illegal, it's whether the contents of EULAs are illegal.
EULAs cannot grant or deny things contrary to law -- they're like any other contract: legally binding except when illegal.
Of course. Confed has had plenty of experience making jump drives that work. There's no reason to think that production model Morningstars would still have jump problems. Either they would fix it or remove the drive completely.
I don't think it has to be lifelike, just believable. Heck, most Wing Commander games involved talking heads without speech. Besides, even though Wing 3 pushed FMV hard into the market, Secret Ops was still a great game without it.
I've recently started playing Freelancer again, and I think...
No, seriously. It's well documented that generally nobody cared about The Escapist until they started hosting the Zero Punctuation videos, at which point there was a 400%+ increase in traffic. Now how many of those only watch those videos and don't view any other content on the website...
