    Weapons of the marines/army

Don't forget the Marscorp MPR-27 mag-pulse guns which which fire projectiles at 'varying' speeds to avoid doing serious damage to equipment or hulls from False Colors - even if these are Landreich Marines using them, these weapons may also be 'standard issue' in Confederation boarding actions.

15 Years of Wing Commander - What Was Your First Time Like?

I started a bit late myself - it wasn't till 1992 or so when I first got to play WC1 for the first time, because my computer wasn't up to the job. Instead, I went over to a friend's house to play the game through, starting with the main WC campaign and then finally getting SM1 a few months...

Isn't that something they did in Freespace? Well, granted, blowing up the Lucifer collapsed EVERYTHING, but...

    Home-made BB Sentry Gun

Damn, I have a P90 airsoft AEG. Maybe I should set that up with an external battery feed and ammo drum too... :D

    Wing Commander 2 Capital Ships

The only places I've seen that is in Aces fanfic or what have you. I honestly don't recall it in WC lore, in any games or manuals.

Windows Vista comes with IE 7

Given the security features they're bundling in, I don't think this would be the best option to pursue for a company, given how the BSA's been making companies pay out the nose when an audit is performed (and failed).

How Do I Install Old WC on Newer Computer?

Try DOSBOX - you'll find information on this in the Tech Support forum, where this thread belongs.

My apologies - my mind confused the WC3 Shroud with something earlier.. and I need to stop riting these till I get more rest. G'night.

Size of the Confederation and Kilrathi territories.

Note that Confed alone has employed two types of cloak by this point - in Armada, we see the Shroud cloaking device on the Wraith, while the Excalibur and Prophecy fighters have the Blackfish-style full cloak. The Shroud was sensor-only, IIRC, while Blackfish-style cloaks (the type Confed was...

Windows Vista comes with IE 7

Currently using SyGate, after I got tired of ZA blocking my Internet connection every two minutes until you restarted the PC - release/renew even after shutting down the firewall wouldn't work, and you couldn't kill the TrueVector service properly. I started installing firewalls on relatives'...

Lesson #2: If you contradict yourself, admit the contradiction and either rework your argument, work around it, or otherwise address the matter. When you post that distance doesn't matter, and that average speed doesn't really matter when it comes to something like a jump drive, then go on to...

Funny - on the one hand you say that you're not suggesting the jump drive will let you move 100ly/day, but at the end of that paragraph, you're saying that 'on average, a jump drive will move you 100 ly/day'. Tell me how you're not contradicting yourself again? A jump drive avoids the need...

Windows Vista comes with IE 7

It's not the 'hackers will steal your computer because you're on' thing that I'd suggest worrying about - it's more that 'your system will become damned slow, and you'll have to learn to disable various parts of Windows which force it to reset when something like Blaster or another worm wanders...

    Steltek Physiology

The Privateer docs and Prophecy both indicate that the Steltek abandoned our space millions of years ago, well before any of the current space-faring races left their home orbits. The only reason that the drone showed up was because Grayson stumbled across a Steltek ship, ripped the gun from...

Windows Vista comes with IE 7

Eh, those guys whose systems keep restarting would have to disagree with you - you don't have to be the US government to worry about random worms and virii hitting your PC up through ports 132 or 135, or else dealing with a zombie program that gets your ISP to turn off your connection. I'd...

Leaving aside all the WC Movie stuff (already mentioned to have come from the WC bible, aka 'the source of all things Wing Commander'), I'll point out why your statement here makes no sense. As Death has noted, that 15 days to travel from Kilrathi space into the heart of Confed space included...

I suspect what Alch means is that distance travelled while in jump is immaterial, so far as the jump is concerned - all that matters is that the jump point makes one system 'contiguous' with another via the jump point, even if the systems are dozens of light years apart... which, at least in an...

    Steltek Physiology

Just great - you reopened a month-old thread... and at the same time show you don't have a clue about what wormholes are. If wormholes are always devices used for time travel, then any FTL drive can also be considered such, as it bypasses relativity to allow a ship to arrive at point B from...

Actually, you -can- travel between systems with a Moravan/Hopper drive, but even that takes some time to make one's way between systems, The jump drive, however, is the most common drive system in use in Confederation space.

    Very Cool Website

In that case, we'd have a callsign and maybe a name for most of the ones who didn't appear in the first and second games - there'd be very little information that'd be usefl outside of the game itself. We have one-or-two sentence snippets about most of the wingmen in WC4 and WCP, though at...
