    Save the Behemoth.

Ah, but he was the guy from Star Wars! It makes everything better... But seriously - at least the novel tried to explain it off; 'them or us' is pretty simplistic as far as arguments go. And unfortunately, at that point in the war, there weren't many reasonable options left. The...

    LOAF Reviews Arena (Sort Of)

Long might have survived longer, had the orders arrived on time - the first breakdown was when the message missed the outgoing courier, then after that got filed in a drawer after arriving at McAuliffe during the spin-up for the Confederation Day celebrations. Had they shown up a few days...

I thought those three ran to the Concordia to get her on her way, while Long got into the trainer with a pilot and signaled Concordia to hold station per page 271 - Turner tells the carrier's XO that this was because he (Long) wanted to board, and deliberately 'ignores' the order, which may have...

    LOAF Reviews Arena (Sort Of)

Say, wasn't Long the one who ran in that two-seater Hurricane trainer, while Nagamo died at his post? And, from what I recall, Action Stations was basically a story about a Confederation that was too complacent and set in its ways, its politicians guilty of being too Terran-centric and...

WCPedia: What's to be done with this Carl LaFong?

I think that works. We can assume he was discussing those missions Blair flew for non-pilots and Academy readers alike in a way which injected some commentary to explain why Blair did what he did. After all, every one of those missions was logged on the flight recorder... although, given how...

    ...and again about Retros

Just remember - the Retro's are described in the Privateer manual as a VIOLENT extremist offshoot of the Church of Man, which itself is a relatively large religious group which seems to combine Amish sensibilities with the original Luddite sentiments involving destroying technology where...

    WC2 Snakeir question

Fleet carriers have a larger number of fighters, and enough armament and support equipment to service and keep those fighters flying for an extended period compared to other ships, from the way the books described them; the Tiger's Claw was a Strike carrier, as was the Eagle's Talon and the...

Lord British Gets His Wings (October 1, 2007)

I'm just impressed that Lord British is going up into orbit, and will probably be carrying a bunch of experiments with him. Here's hoping this MAY renew interest in space travel beyond a few lawmakers and Hollywood stars... I doubt it will, though.

You know, that makes about as much sense as avoiding Macs because they can run Windows software... but the software wasn't 'designed for Macs'. I play World of Warcraft, which was designed for nVidia.. and it works as well (if not better) on the ATi than it does on the nVidia, especially with...

I've reinstalled the latest CAtalyst Drivers, used Driver Cleaner Pro after uninstalling before reinstalling. I uninstalled the game, defragged the hard drive, then reinstalled the game too. It doesn't even get to the intro... or anything close to that. It just crashes out right away... and...

Incidentally, the INI fixes didn't help at all - I don't even get to the intro screens before it crashes. Maybe I'll just try another PC... And for the record, it's an A64 3000+ with 1GB PC3200 RAM and an old ATi x1300Pro. Yeah, I'm cheap. :P

meis: As I said earlier in the thread, I have the dreaded 'Crash to Desktop Even Before the Game STarts' bug - it just crashes right away, with no error message.

    Confed battleship design

Or else there are large empty areas of the ship which aren't counted in the basic mass listing there, which is possible, since I don't recall if even current ship listings state the mass of things like fuel, crew, munitions, etc... although their mass is minor compared to that of the...

... in which case, they can charge you for that, and you'd probably happily buy it, since it's adding things to the game which didn't originally exist, but which you can live without. Now i'm waiting for that patch they talked about, so I might be able to PLAY the game...

Eh, they're selling the same plugins for the PC too... although the fact that they're adding some more content in future plugins is heartening. If the plugin's good, and adds a lot, then I'll pay for it - but if there are others making plugins for free, I'll happily grab those too.

There were a few Ashlanders - one was a merchant who'd basically left his tribe in Ald'ruhn; his son was in one of the Sixth House caves you would clear out, and you could rescue him if you so chose to... but there weren't many Ashlanders in towns at all, no.

Well, I'm getting a crash on startup.. which I suspect is due to drivers. :D Personally, I love the extras that came with the Collectors' Edition of the package: the Guide to the Empire, the Map, and the game with slipcover, along with the 'making of' DVD were nice bonuses.. and ones which...
