    Alpha Test Game 5

Found the typo leading to the chaffs not dropping. They should drop from now on.

    Alpha Test Game 5

Well I did put in a fix a while back too, so make sure you correlate your historical check with the live-as-we-play updates I make. That said, if chaff pods are sticking around and not decrementing, that's a problem. Can someone confirm this is the case?

    Ship Pop-up Window Closing Behaviour

Seems like most people missed it... only 1 vote was ever put in. As for the jumping... well that's why we brought on Jason_Ryock, but I haven't heard from him yet, since his initial commitment to the project. Hopefully he'll have a chance to tackle the weird jumping soon.

    Alpha Test Game 5

I poked at the orders widget today. The 'time since last seen action' counters might now be working properly. Hard to tell since only Ironduke has 2 ships needed to go at the moment, but it should be more obvious as soon as the next phase begins.

go ahead and submit it. For now, I'm only worried about the reverse (no orders window when there should be).

Okay then. burnout speed factor returned to 3/4.

    Alpha Test Game 5

I've sent humungus a private message to remind him. If he hasn't responded by the end of the weekend, I'll take my best guess at what the best move for him would be.

    Using Unity

I'd certainly consider it. Also, much of the 'core code' that handles the game rule implementation is fairly object oriented. It wouldn't be too hard to switch to another OO language. The part that would need to be completely rebuilt is the interface and all associated display and command...

    Alpha Test Game 5

Found and solved the preengine issues with afterburner turn values for end phase engine. Also identified and solved an issue involving wanting to shelton slide with a 'straight ahead' initial turn when you only have a turn speed of 1. Also implemented the -1 from side arc for chaff pods. The...

    Alpha Test Game 5

Fixed the following issues so far (need to take a break and address the last issue later): DFs will no longer chase Chaff pods will now properly destroy targets (tentative fix). Seems to work on IDE simulations, but I can't "finish" processing without risking damage to the current game, so I...

    Alpha Test Game 5

Hope you like the new missile reports saying where they fly. Looks like they need some hard returns, however. Yeah, this is an old issue. Honestly, I'll need Ironduke to chime in again. For now, all I can say is that the burnout code is currently programmed to fly 2/3 distance not 3/4. I...

    Alpha Test Game 5

Yeah, this was a turn processing bug. These only happen when everyone has put in their orders, and only ever appear once. Keep copying them as you see them. Unfortunately I'm not sure what caused this one. I could probably replicate and correct it using my new debug tools though! (I may not...

    Alpha Test Game 5

Well I can see why those messages might appear, but not how to solve them. It would mean an invalid order was put in somewhere and it can't find a target it thought it could. Did everyone shoot if they expected to? I think we've seen this before in some of the earlier test games, but with all...

    Alpha Test Game 5

Yeah, this comes from the lack of a WCTOO manual vs. the WCTO manual. I grey out any options you can't use. WCTOO automatically reserves any shots you aren't allowed to use. By default, opportunity fire is only ever 1 shot, with an auto-reserve of the others. At some point, when the bugs are...

    Alpha Test Game 5

Okay guys, sorry for that unnecessary week long interruption. Zelda games only come out every so often, and it is one of the few series that I pretty much drop everything to play (aside from work). So the good news is, I found the problem. You may remember about two weeks back I did a fix on...

    Alpha Test Game 5

Okay... finished LoZ: Skyward Sword last night. Amazing game; anyone owning a Wii and who likes adventure games owes themselves to play this game, even if you've never played a Legend of Zelda game before. I'm busy with some personal matters today and tomorrow, but I'll look into the orders...

    Alpha Test Game 5

Okay I will look into it. Definitely sounds fishy. So the question I have for each of you: I see your ship is in the green already. Does this mean that the turn predictor incorrectly realized you could opportunity fire (and pre-submitted a blank order on your behalf) or that you guys...

    Alpha Test Game 5

You know, this would be a piece of cake to implement. ..... done. Unfortunately, everyone who had successfully tailed has put in orders now, so I missed the window of debugging on that one.

    Alpha Test Game 5

Why didn't I do this years ago? Even without conditional breakpoints, being able to step through my code line-for-line and see what is going on is like seeing my creation truly for the first time. You guys have no idea what a miracle it has been that this works at all. Up until now, I'd have...

    Alpha Test Game 5

Okay so I've finally got myself a php IDE that I can run locally, meaning I can do things like put in breakpoints and do line-by-line stepping with watches. This has also already given me a few good pieces of feedback and I squashed some bugs we didn't even know we had yet. That said, the going...
