Run All Old WC Games in DOSBox Walkthrough

So... if the .tre file was in c:\wingcommander\privateer, would I change the .cfg file to read "=c:\wingcommander\privateer\priv.tre"? I guess I just don't understand, because that didn't work.

Run All Old WC Games in DOSBox Walkthrough

All right, I think I was just being dumb. I've fixed that problem, but I have another... I install the game and type "priv" but it says "Privateer CD not found. JEMM unloaded." I've looked through the rest of this thread for options. I copied all the files from the CD to the hard-drive, but...

    false colors

Ole Bondy was a pilot off the TCS Gettysburg. The Gettysburg's captain ordered his pilots to fire on a bunch of innocent Kilrathi civilians, and the pilots refused and mutinied. The mutineers split into two factions: one went pirate, the other (including Jason) tried to rejoin Confed. Blair...

Run All Old WC Games in DOSBox Walkthrough

Ugh... I wish I knew more about computers, but I'm trying to get Privateer to run through DosBox. Like someone earlier in this thread, I'm getting this and have no idea what to do: "Protected mode driver is not responding to EMS function calls. Make sure your EMS driver is not configured...

Transferring characters from SM2 to WC2

Well, since you're demoted to captain anyway, it doesn't really matter, does it? Plus, I don't think you can transfer a character from SM2 to WC2.

    Next XBox Rumors

My poor-ass just got an X-Box... I probably won't get the next version of it until Microsoft releases a third version. That's the way it's always been for me. I didn't get a Super Nintendo until the Playstation was introduced, I didn't get a Playstation until the PS2 was introduced, and so forth.

    An "academic" discussion...

Nope. The WC4 novel has Sosa mentioning Adm. Richards (from Fleet Action) and the Landreich giving aid to the UBW. So, they're different.

Bandit LOAF, terror of the high seas.

    An "academic" discussion...

I suppose, but I enjoyed the movie immensely, and while I'll defend the changes and the existence of Pilgrims and whatnot, it's still a much bigger retcon than the Border Worlds...

    An "academic" discussion...

I'd have to agree with Edfilho here. When I played WC4, the existence of the UBW didn't bother me. When I first saw the movie, I was like... huh? Not saying my experience is shared by everybody, but it seems to be common.

Actually, the philosopher (WC2) and the cartoon (WC3 novel).

Eh, you've got a point, man.

    An "academic" discussion...

Despite what some might think, I don't think there's an actual WC "canon." That would imply something official and definitive, which is certainly something we don't have. There's so many disparate elements we have to piece together, calling something "canon" is sort of misleading. However, yes...

    tolwyn's cheap shot (wc2 dialogue)

It's a fictional universe. We wouldn't have two people named Shotglass.

Is Killing Kilrathi and Nephilim more justified than Humans?

Is it more justified? Yes, because giant puppets are evil. I don't know, it's a kill or be killed situation. To me, it doesn't matter what's doing the killing. I'll defend me and my own. So, no, it's not more justified if it's aliens, it's just as justified.

As Blair says, "It's a shitty game."

    An "academic" discussion...

I'd have to agree. And how Confed can have so many traitors on board their ships is ridiculous. It's as bad as CTU on "24."

    tolwyn's cheap shot (wc2 dialogue)

Eh, I don't think so. I'm sure Hunter had a lot of friends on the Claw that died.
