    Then this happened...

That's encouraging. I've heard good things about Hannibal, but I never watched.

    Then this happened...

Bryan Fuller has been named the show runner. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. The two DS9 eps he wrote were good. The Voyager episodes were... Voyager episodes. I'm not really familiar with his other work. I'm curious as to the shape the show will take. It can't be about the...

    Doctor Who and Wing Commander

And there's Leandro the Leonian from this season.

Revisit The Saga Of The Warrior King (November 16, 2015)

This episode felt out of place the first time I saw it. Alien Space Vikings, pseudo-mystical glowing orbs... a far cry from the rest of the series that was a pretty good adaptation of WC. It wasn't until the CIC post about the crossover a few years ago did it make any sort of sense. But I...

EA Checks Up On WC3 Cast (September 12, 2014)

My mind is slightly blown by the fact that someone actually referenced "Super Force".

Wing Commander 3 full screen issue

Two possibilities with the choppiness: the first is that your cycles are set too low. The other possibility is that the cycles are set to "max". It's been my experience that the audio sounds choppy when DOSBox does this. Note that if the cycles are set to "auto", DOSBox more than likely...

    New Sierra.com

I thought this might be of interest to fans of classic PC gaming: http://www.sierra.com/ Apparently John Williams knows about this, but couldn't divulge anything more. Could this mean that a large software publisher has decided to dust off its classic IP portfolio? Hmmm....

Sounding Off About Obscure Sound Cards (July 26, 2014)

I've always been amazed at the Roland MT-32. Yes, it was the best way to listen to games at the time, but they retailed for $550 in 1990! Who actually bought one of these things?

    Starflight 1 & 2 on Gog.com

I posted a message on the Starflt.com comment board. Or if you could give me his contact info, I'd be more than happy to share the images. As I mentioned there, these are from a version for Tandy computers, with 16-colors available only with the Tandy video graphics adapter. My understanding...

    Starflight 1 & 2 on Gog.com

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was reminded of this discussion of floppy life expectancy. About a month ago, I managed to find an old 5.25" floppy drive and purchased a Kryoflux board to turn it into a USB floppy drive (of sorts). My goal was to archive my collection of floppies. So...

    Starflight 1 & 2 on Gog.com

These old articles are always a great read. Thanks. BTW, weren't the source code (or at least a portion of it) and design documents released by one of the developers? I remember seeing them a while ago. I don't remeber if I saved the files or not.

    Starflight 1 & 2 on Gog.com

Cool. Thanks. This is really interesting. That's a neat trick on the part of the programmers. And it's not as if any planet the generator comes up with will do. Each planet that is created has to have a believable topography: vast oceans, low altitute terrain nearthe oceans that gets...

    Starflight 1 & 2 on Gog.com

As I mentioned above, I've always been impressed how much they were able to cram in two 5.25" low density floppies. I think there are something like 250 planets you can land on. Huge planets where you can go anywhere. That leaves only a few kilobytes per planet, and that doesn't include text...

    Starflight 1 & 2 on Gog.com

Highly recommended. I got this more or less when it first came out. It may have been a bit overwhelming for me at the time (I think I was 10-12) and I need a hint book to win, but there is a lot of fun to be had here. It's also great to just marvel the size of the universe the programmers...

    Space Quest

They re-released the compilations for most of their Quest series a few years ago and in each case omitted the original versions of the first game in favor of the remake (couldn't find room for a game that's barely 1 meg big?). Older compilations will have all of them. The amazon.com link says...

    Space Quest

Also available from GOG.com. I believe GOG offers the original EGA version of SQ1 but not the VGA remake, and vice versa from Steam. The CD-ROM version also only has the remake.

    Secret Ops audio problem

Okay, figured it out. I disabled hardware acceleration (should have tried that from the beginning) and it sounds fine now.

    Secret Ops audio problem

It happens with the speech. So I just played Ella 1 where Spyder and Zero are talking about the alien debris. The speech is unintelligable because half of what they are saying is missing. Sentences get cut off and the next sentence starts half-way through. I have to read the subtitles to...

    Secret Ops audio problem

Sorry. I should have looked at the other Forums. But anyway, no I haven't done any editing. I forgot to mention before: I am also using Win98 compatability mode.
