Hellcat cockpit in the WC2 style

I like Quarto's proposed stats for the Arrow's speed and protection, but eight missiles, while being in line with the WC3 version, seems a bit many for the WC2 environment if it is going to be facing against WC2 Kilrathi fighters. Perhaps reduce it to 2FF/2DF, or the WC4 version's 2IR/2HS?

Hellcat cockpit in the WC2 style

Yeah, having it be "lighter and more nimble than the Epee/Ferret" can work as long as we aren't taking it to extremes. 800/2000kps like in Armada for example is probably a bit excessive considering that nothing else tops 500/1400 (IIRC), but a speed between 520/1400 and 600/1600 might work.

Explore Gemini Through An Orion Pilot's Eyes (July 6, 2015)

The Orion is faster-flying than both the Tarsus and the Galaxy, and it has unmatched armor, shields, and reactor power, but the thing that ruins it for me is the inability to fire a dual salvo of guided missiles. Two missiles at once are sufficient to either annihilate a Talon with full shields...

Hellcat cockpit in the WC2 style

Hmm, well the Armada Arrow had twin Lasers and twin Dumbfires, but that does seem kind of weak. Changing the guns to shorter-range Mass Drivers or Neutron guns makes it too much like the Ferret, and changing them to Particle guns makes it too much like the Epee, while giving it quad Lasers seems...

    Original Wing Commander Artist Here.

I agree. The only mission I remember where you are outmatched without being grossly outnumbered was the one where you are flying a Tigershark escorting Blair, and have to fight off a Devil Ray (which is a match for a Panther, more or less). When you get your hands on a Vampire, pretty much...

the time line and the cannon of wing commander

IMO it seems very much a case of Tolwyn believing "there's no way that the Kilrathi can make something like that practical for the next several years" as opposed to "such a thing is theoretically impossible". Tolwyn knows enough about cloaking research (and possibly whatever has been...

Why is Privateer 2 Rated M?

Yes--human organs and "pleasure borgs" for example.

the time line and the cannon of wing commander

Another thing is that Skipper missiles pass in and out of cloak every few seconds. The purpose of the Skipper missile's cloak is to evade weapons lock, not to completely evade detection. By comparison, a fighter entering from outside of sensor range and closing to torpedo-firing range would have...

Overthinking It Overthinks The WC3 Finale (February 21, 2015)

The ending of WC3 feels very much like it copied from Star Wars. Planet-destroying raygun that is shown blowing up an "example" planet but itself is destroyed before it can destroy the enemy stronghold? Check. Mark Hamill flying through a trench as his wingmen are shot down, to deliver a torpedo...

CIC RSI Organization Turns One! (January 22, 2015)

I think that 4 GB is the minimum viable amount of RAM, but a DDR3 video card should work as long as you have any kind of Core i3/i5 processor (or the equivalent from some other manufacturer).

Smudo Talks Wing Commander (January 10, 2015)

How many kilometers from LAX airport to Burbank? Probably more than 16 but still much less than 100.

Meh, everybody has guns. It's the nuts who treat lethal force as a "golden hammer" to solve all conflicts, who are the problem. "Somebody pisses you off? Threaten to shoot him."--that is the attitude that causes the most trouble.

Star Citizen guild- oops, I mean squadron...

The only difference between "packages" is in which ship you will start off with. Other than a very few limited edition ships (e.g. the Vandul Scythe), all of the ships will be purchasable in-game with in-game money once your character becomes wealthy enough to buy them. Pick the ship that you...

Chris Roberts' Crowdfunding Success Officially Recognized (September 26, 2014)

Yeah, by the time the game goes live and "crowdfunding" gives way to "normal" funding (i.e. people buying items/credits through the Voyager Direct store as the normal mode of funding), I would not be surprised to see the funding level hit seventy million from its current...

    Alternate WC3 credits?

The rest of the paragraph containing the "nice day in Mordor" phrase makes it sound like something that seems too good to be true, to the point that one should be suspicious of a trap.

Transverse Saga Continues To Unfold; Game Evolved From WC Online Pitch (September 11, 2014)

Some functions (e.g in-game vending of items and repairs or the "auction house" whereby players sell items to each other) can be automated without requiring a player or NPC to "man" them--think of the "booth system" in Privateer 2. Still, it would be pretty desolate without any scripted...

just finished secret missions 1 of wc1

Yes, the Sartha especially had a slow turning rate for the "light, fast fighter" role--IIRC it turned at 4, while every Confed craft besides the Broadsword (and Crossbow in SO1) turned at 8 or more.
