    Wc3 In-Game Capship Armaments

A minor nitpick--the system in which the plague missiles are launched is Laconda, not Tamayo--it's Flint's home planet.

    Wing Commander Rights

Now that they have Star Wars, they have a perverse incentive to squash any competing projects--therefore it is in their interest to actively prevent any non-Star-Wars space opera type games from being developed . . . unless you can offer them even more money than Star Wars, that is.

SpaceX Lands Orbital Booster Rocker For The First Time (December 22, 2015)

I think that SpaceX is making the right choice about which pieces of the launcher need to be reusable. The first stage is 3/4 of the launcher's mass and doesn't need to travel fast enough to require heavy-duty reentry shielding. The orbital capsule (Dragon) contains the fancy computers, etc...

    Star Citizen Reaches $100 Million!

Yeah, I can't spare the funds to get the fancy ship packages, so I went with the 300i as my starter.

Wing Commander characters you wished you got to see more of...

Yeah, but wasn't the comm tech whom Jazz shot in WC2 named "McGuffin"? That's where the "20 second scene and then never mentioned again" bit comes from.

    Star Citizen Reaches $100 Million!

As of today (12 December 2015), Star Citizen has reached One Hundred Million Dollars in crowd funding (exactly $100,008,786 at the moment of this post). Congratulations!

1990s Chris Roberts Talks Wing Commander, Star Citizen (November 27, 2015)

AFAIK the persistent online universe idea has been going ever since he started work on the aborted Privateer 3.

    Earth Defense Campaign

Closing the jump point would be physically impossible. The intelligent thing to do would be to place the biggest, densest mine field possible around the jump point, and station as much forces as possible to try to kill anything as soon as it jumps in. The only reason that fighting should be...

    Wing Commander III acting...

Cheapness has its place in war or peace though--Confed would be able to field twenty Midways where it could field only ten Vesuviuses for example.

    Wing Commander III acting...

Sorry, what I meant was that a Midway is intended to be lighter/cheaper than a Vesuvius carrier battlegroup, with the support ships included. Rather than having a carrier and a troopship and a science ship, etc., it's all one big ship, meaning that there is less overall mass and only one target...

    Wing Commander III acting...

A Midway provides more capability than a light carrier like the Yorktown-class while being cheaper than the heavy battle-carriers like the Vesuvius-class. They are meant for situations where small carriers aren't enough, but the super-heavies aren't needed.

    Earth Defense Campaign

Yes, what Confed needed was not to destroy the cruisers, but rather to have more antimissile weapons in position to shoot down the warheads.

    Then this happened...

Commander Bella Swan is torn between her love for E'duard, a Romulan who was raised to hold humans in utter contempt, and the fierce Klingon warrior J'kob. :D

    Then this happened...

I agree. The new Trek series ought to have all-new characters rather than reboots of existing characters. The Abrahms movies try to step into the shoes of the old characters, and that turns off all of the fans for whom Shatner is the true Kirk, Nimoy the true Spock, etc.

Star Citizen Reaches One Million Backers!

I personally subscribe to Shigeru Miyamoto's Maxim: "A delayed game can be made good, but a rushed game is bad forever."

Star Citizen Reaches One Million Backers!

I'd say that it depends on how far in advance you are pre-ordering and your motive for doing so. If you order a week or two in advance so that you will have a reserved copy instead of waiting in a long line at the store and finding them sold out, then I think you should do it. But if you're...

Star Citizen Reaches One Million Backers!

The biggest space for crowdfunding of games is for those games that the established publishers don't want to fund because of their conservative impulses (i.e. won't fund anything that marketing analysis doesn't predict big sales for).

Star Citizen Reaches One Million Backers!

As of this writing, Star Citizen has registered 1,000,834 backers, contributing over $92,410,000. $100 million is within sight. Think about it. A million fans backing a hundred-million-dollar game. Just wow.

Squadron 42 Cast Revealed; Hamill & Rhys-Davis Again Voicing Space Sim Characters (October 10, 2015)

U.S. General George S. Patton had this squeaky nasal voice too, so I'm wondering if they aren't deliberately trying to invoke that. Also, I thought I had heard that Tom Wilson was in on Star Citizen? He doesn't seem to be listed in the top-ranked cast members (though of course this is not an...

RSI Reaches Whopping $85M Milestone (July 18, 2015)

I look forward to Star Citizen reaching the one million backers milestone. Come to think of it, has any game ever had a million people shelling out money for it a year or more before the full release date?
