Oh Jeez, what's he done now...

I blame your Mount & Blade review for my new addiction to Warband! :D

What else do you expect from a Pontiac?

Since it happened off-screen, she could have also collided with another wingperson?

    KS WC3 + Mash patch + DDHack = success?

I use HxD (http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/) to do the hex-editing. All I did was basically string replacement and most hex editors will allow you to search by string. Once you stare at the screen it should all come back to you rather quickly, since you have done this sort of thing before. :)

Reinstalled Windows, error: Could not determine what GL DLL to load

Yes - check that - and also please ensure that you have the following: 1. The most up-to-date drivers for your display card, and; 2. DirectX9 with the latest updates (run a DirectX Web installer from the Microsoft site just to make sure)

WC2 Kilrathi Saga edition cutscene problems

The Wing Commander II Kilrathi Saga version has speed adjustments added in-game to compensate for modern computers - however the cutscene renderer did not. I would imagine on state-of-the-art computers today they would be almost unwatchable. The best way to experience WC2 is to get the DOS...

Wing Commander Armada Cutscenes with Soundfont Chorium

I used the Gravis Ultrasound midi bank with the GUS emulation from within DOSBox - this music gets recorded by the DOSBox video capture. However the GUS midi bank doesn't sound as good as this SoundFont, though.

    KS WC3 + Mash patch + DDHack = success?

Thanks Mash, I realised that you have made new version hooking into dsound. On my XP system, if I try to use ddhack by itself (or in conjunction with your new dsound patch), the game would not run but be stuck with a black screen. But if I let ddhack "piggyback" on top of your original ddraw...

    KS WC3 + Mash patch + DDHack = success?

Armed with nothing but a hex-editor, I've managed to get the Kilrathi Saga WC3 working with Mash's patch and ddhack... Strangely enough, ddhack by itself won't work on my XP environment, but runs combined with Mash's patch? (I get a black screen if I tried ddhack on its own) This is what...

WC3 KS + ddhack + win xp = black screen

If WC3 works with ddhack then I doubt that the WC1/2 problems would be due to ddhack itself. Have you tried to run WC1/2 without ddhack and see if it works well?

    help!! win7 nightmare

Exactly what game(s) are you having issues with? Are they the DOS based versions or the Kilrathi Saga ones?

    Games Installer Screenshot thread

Minor DOSBOX hint: Hit CTRL+F5 will save a screenshot inside the dosbox\capture folder. I remember the sense of awe seeing the Victory spinning for the first time on my then-new Pentium 66.

Having been inspired by this thread, here's my current favourite installer. It really needs a youtube video to do it justice though!

How to turn off speech in WC2 in Kilrathi Saga?

Go to the directory where you have installed Wing Commander 2, (eg. c:\program files\kilrathi saga\wc2), go inside the gamedat directory, (backup the contents first), delete all the SPEECH.S?? files, delete all the COMMUNIC.S?? files. Note: Leave the COMMUNIC.T?? files alone! These are the...

Prophecy Movie Upgrade Patch Released (October 24, 2006)

If you are going to put the effort and time into transcoding, why not do it to the latest standard and use h.264 video?

    Help with control options please!

For keyboard controls, try holding shift for quicker turns and don't use shift for more precise aiming as required. I never tried to play with mouse. You should give the joystick option another try as it is the preferred way to play these games, as manoeuvrings like this and this...

    Select a Satisfying Style (November 20, 2010)

I voted for Privateer 2 because it looks surreal enough to depict the far future. There is enough attention to detail to make it look consistent, and I think the cutscenes are the most movie-like of all the Wing Commander games.
