    WC4-DVD questions

Don't hold your breath on that one. There is absolutely nothing incompatible about the cards themselves, just the software support. It's because the game is using the Windows MCI to call for the video to be played, which has been obsoleted by DirectX for quite some time, and of course, it was...

    WC4-DVD questions

A GeForce2 can do hardware motion compensation, but not IDCT, which still has to be done in software. Hardware decoder cards do IDCT also, as does the Radeon.

    WC4-DVD questions

Before DVD-ROM drives were common they often went for $5-10, but lately they've been hovering around $100 on ebay. Wait a while for the freaks to get theirs and they should come back down to around $20-30.

A die-hard WC fan in the Far East desperately wants your help!

That's why you need a program like GetRight, if the connection dies it'll reconnect and resume the download from where it was. (Assuming the server supports resuming.)

    Kilrathi Saga questions...

They vary from $100 to $200 now. Where did you hear they refused to release the rest of it? I doubt they would refuse to sell it. They are in the business of making and selling games you know. Those magazines decide what they want on their discs, I'm sure EA/ORIGIN would be willing to...

This has been bugging me for some time now...

Now, if you were accelerating at 2 Gs from a dead start to a dead stop I believe you could go 4 AU in about 15 1/2 hours.

    WC Covers

Why would you need KS? And why did you write "WC2 (End Run Novel)"? It looks like you think they're the same thing. And what would someone need with such things... what's wrong with the covers they already have?

Privateer 2 patch in the files section

I ran the original P2 and the patched version in a DOS box in Win95 (or maybe 98)... I just told Windows not to allow the program to detect it.

    Tolwyn's silly cape in WC2

Firstly I wasn't pinning literature against science, I was holding it up against RL historical discussions (which I'm not precluding from being a science, I just wasn't making that broad of a generalization). My point was you cannot prove something didn't or couldn't happen in the WC universe as...

    Tolwyn's silly cape in WC2

Well, I believe its up to the content creators as to how many versions of the story they wish to create. Oh, ok. My bad. http://www.cafepress.com/wcnews/ But it is not logic that leads you to that decision, it is your personal preference, which I will respect, because it is your...

    Tolwyn's silly cape in WC2

You used the phrase "WC lore" and that's exactly what I'm talking about. It's literature and art. It's an entire mythos. We should be so lucky that the WC universe converges as much as it does. We're not arguing Creationism versus Darwinism here. Some would like to force one version of events...

    Tolwyn's silly cape in WC2

How about this... they both simply co-exist because Origin says so. No special rules, no extra clauses, nothing. Canon is canon, for what its worth. By that I mean, take WC4 for example, are you going to take that game for face value? Everything in it is going to be part of the structure of the...

Gimme a break. Are you sheltered or what? You don't know she wasn't sleeping with half the guys on the ship. And sometimes it looked like Catscratch was going to try a make out with Blair.

Of course they are licensed. Especially because on the back of all the books it says "Wing Commander is a registered trademark of ORIGIN Systems, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Used herein under license from ORIGIN Systems, Inc." You just don't get permission on stuff like that when money is involved.
