GameSpot Interviews Chris Roberts (October 1, 2012)

Yeah - You have heard of a little game called Guild Wars 2, right? MMOs are alive and well... In other news, that trailer, if you freeze frame it, features the same twin-tailed fighter that features in the carrier and "New Detroit"/Freelancer concept art pieces.

Prepare for Magnum Launch! (September 27, 2012)

Took me a while to notice, but the ships on the flight line match the design from the original "Detroit"-esque concept art -

Prepare for Magnum Launch! (September 27, 2012)

Not THAT is looking very Wing Commander-y. :) I'd personally prefer it a little more dirty / lived in (more Battlestar Galactica and less shiny Prophecy), but it is looking excellent, regardless. Such massive advantages to getting talented designers to work on the project.

    Cannon Fodder (September 16, 2012)

I wouldn't read to much into that...Chris already stated that if he was to do a new Wing Commander game, he'd most likely do a reboot similar to the new Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica franchises. In other news, my previous post here on the mysterious shape on the top of the ship seems to...

BREAKING NEWS: Roberts Space Industries: Big Announcement Coming In October (September 10, 2012)

You know, if that was an intentional "hint" at the Cats returning in a new Wing Commander game, it's the most obscure/cheeky hint I think I've ever seen. :D

Repetition Stresses Image Details - RSI Concept Breakdown (September 10, 2012)

Given how much Chris continues to talk about cinematic storytelling, I think its highly unlikely you won't see a singleplayer campaign.

Repetition Stresses Image Details - RSI Concept Breakdown (September 10, 2012)

In case I was a little too cryptic in my last post - take a look specifically at the computer displays. The same "altimeter" exists in both paintings. Looks to be a pretty typical stand-in device used by Church to represent generic computer displays.

Repetition Stresses Image Details - RSI Concept Breakdown (September 10, 2012)

I do believe you're right in picking those concept shots as Ryan Church. Went looking at his website again today. He's done some fantastic work. Take a look at his concept art for the bridge of the Enterprise on the new Star Trek movie. Notice anything familiar between that image and the...

BREAKING NEWS: Chris' Clock Counts Cloudward (September 9, 2012)

Why do I feel like one of the only people in this thread doesn't have an inside line on this thing. CIC staff are in cahoots with CR on this, I tell you! ;)

BREAKING NEWS: Chris' Clock Counts Cloudward (September 9, 2012)

Having said that, I wonder if this is a bit of deliberate mis-information. Just seems that there's been so much circumstancial evidence popping up in the last year or so. Given Chris stated that any project he worked on would be animation "[similar to] Avatar", instead of FMV, and then Tom...

BREAKING NEWS: Chris' Clock Counts Cloudward (September 9, 2012)

Whenever Chris has talked about revisiting games, he's talked about cinematic story telling, so I doubt what he's working on is going to be an "Elite" clone. But a full, cinematic Privateer type game complete with ship customisation would be pretty awesome. It does appear that it won't be an...

Let us know how it goes, LOAF. :)

Who DAT Tapes? (August 11, 2012)

Wow, LOAF. That's an interesting find. It looks like you've stumbled onto a web server owned by a (the only) Unix administrator at Origin, circa 1994-1997! :) It looks like he's a bit of a hoarder and he has instructions and Unix user guides (what you found) going back to his Origin days that he...

Super Wing Commander Dripping With Atmosphere (August 27, 2012)

"Escort(ing) a space station" would be rather...dull, wouldn't it? ;) I always thought it was strange that they made such major changes to some of the designs for SWC - the iconic Tiger's Claw boiled down to a rather boring looking box, for example. What's the deal there, guys? Have we ever...

Pix Scans: On the Set of Privateer 2 (June 28, 2012)

I don't disagree with any of that. I was just observing that the "interactive movie", as John Hurt was discussing it, was a "movie", with interactivity. I completely agree that live actors are not required in modern gaming. A game with high production values can now do character animation in...

Pix Scans: On the Set of Privateer 2 (June 28, 2012)

A fair bit, if you read what John Hurt is talking about. He's talking about real actors playing out different scripts based on viewer feedback. Certainly, SC2 is quite WC-eque in the whole "click on the 2d pic of the character to play a dialogue sequence", but that's where the similarities end...

Pix Scans: On the Set of Privateer 2 (June 28, 2012)

I see the IM as something that was tried in the 90s, but technology and audiences weren't ready for it. It hasn't clicked yet. But, much like the resurgence of 3d films (for better or for worse, depending on your opinion of them), I think we'll see the genre revisited, with greater success in...

EA Talks Franchise Reboots (June 14, 2012)

Ah ok then. My mistake. It doesn't surprise me that LoU is hated by many Ultima fans - Although I never played Ultima, I never saw anything other than "generic fantasy setting" in LoU. If Ultima had established lore or story, it certainly wasn't acknowledged, respected or even vaguely hinted...
