Another "Which WC Game Is Your Favourite?" thread

WC3 balanced the story, gameplay and FMV scenes the best I thought. WCP started out strong, but a game is only as good as it's antagonists and the Bug-Fish guys were lame. WC4 was too much about the FMV - and I agree with Quarto that the one missle kills were a departure from the series and...

    WC3 on Crazy

Wow. Much, much tougher. Can't role with my T-bolt on most missions like I used to. The Ekapshi are crazy difficult. At least your wingman get better. Sometimes it feels more realistic, but other times it is unrealistic (first mission after the Behemoth gets destroyed for instance).

Another "Which WC Game Is Your Favourite?" thread

Overall, I go with 3. 2 is a close second. Just started playing 4 again and find it rather mediocre; I really don't like the combat and the fact that the game takes place over a very short period of time - never felt invested in the new characters at all (Hawk, Panther etc.)

Wing Commander Prophecy DVD Movie Upgrade Windows 10 (GoG)

It has been sometime. Does anyone know how to resolve deMar's issue with the movies playing in the top left corner? I am having it as well. All codecs are accounted for.

    Tolwyn's plan for Blair

Opinions vary. Having just finished recent playthroughs of WC2, Wc3 and Wc4, I feel it is actually the weakest entry in the series. By quite a margin too. I just did not feel emotionally engaged at all for some reason. I'll be playing WCP again soon, so we will see if time has been kinder to it.

Service entry dates for Confed fighters

The Thunderbolts are specifically referred to as both "reliable" and "old" in the WC3 novelization. I always thought the T-bolts cockpit instrumentation and avionics looked primitive compared to the other fighters. Also, the Excalibur and Arrow are the only fighters with a sidestick...

    Tolwyn's plan for Blair

This thread has got me thinking about how boring and uninspired Blair's reenlistment in WC4 was. I mean, it would have made a lot more sense for Blair to come back reluctantly or perhaps in response to the attacks. Remember how tired and burnt out he was from the war in WC3? A cool intro would...

    Tolwyn's plan for Blair

@LOAF Well then, I can only conclude that Seether and Tolwyn were crazy. I can't imagine that any sane person would think that Eisen or Blair would support turning Confed into the Fourth Reich. I wonder if Tolwyn explained the entire plan to Petranova and Hartnett. Maybe he just sold it as a...

    Tolwyn's plan for Blair

But why bother recruiting someone as skilled, and as much as a shit-disturber, as Blair? This is not the Kilrathi war - the Border Worlds has no chance against Confed. Zero.

    Tolwyn's plan for Blair

Why did Tolwyn draft Blair out of retirement for the Border Worlds Crisis and put him in a position where he could potentially undermine his planned coup? This seems to be a tremendous blunder. Did Tolwyn actually think Blair would join him? Was he hoping he would be killed and could be used as...

Service entry dates for Confed fighters

I always thought of WC as WW2 in space, so from that I always assumed that you were flying the latest and greatest fighters since in WW2 fighter tech advanced rapidly (although I believe it was stated in WC2 that the Ferret is an older design). Only when I read some of the novelizations and...

Realistic wishlist of features for a new WC game

Yes, I certainly like the idea of having to correctly assign the appropriate pilot for the appropriate mission. WC3 already did this a little; Flint was the best wingman at taking out capital ships etc.

    Accuracy of WC3 Materials

I think a lot has to do with the fact that Chris Roberts was more heavily involved with WC3 than WC2. LOAF can attest to the fact that there were some things in WC2 that he didn't like. It is always tough to come up with reasonable "in-universe" explanations for seemingly contrary or bizarre...

Realistic wishlist of features for a new WC game

Ideally in a new privateer game you would be able to join at least 3 different factions and the faction you join would affect what craft/weapons/missions/upgrades are available. Maybe a reputation system could be implemented like in Freelancer.

Realistic wishlist of features for a new WC game

Better gun loadouts for my fighters! To: BuShips cc: BuWeaps From: YCDTD Message Follows: Stop putting ion cannons on fighters! Give my love to the family.

Service entry dates for Confed fighters

So, according to some WC canon, the Arrow is actually an old design. The WC3 novelization also describes the Thunderbolt as an old fighter. The Hellcat also seems to be old, as it is outfitted with neutron guns (which were replaced with particle cannons on newer craft, correct?). Do we have any...

Realistic wishlist of features for a new WC game

Lol. I guess I was being a little optimistic then. Okay, maybe we'll wait until the 2020s to try something like that in a game. In terms of branching missions, I would like to see them be more realistic. Like Silverain said, base it more on consequences that outright success failure. I think...
