Alternate WC 2 Intro from Demo

That bend is their ankles. Like a majority of Earth animals, the Kilrathi walk on their toes (digitigrade, if you want to get technical). And Wedge? Most online comments are demonstrations that Sturgeon's Law ("90% of everything is crud") is overly generous. :p

    Most underrated fighter

Personally, I didn't hate the Vin, in spite of my ragging on it to get Raptor's goat, but I didn't care much for it, either. If they'd skipped the lasers, and just went with 2 full tachyon guns (vice the light tachyons it mounts) I'd not have minded it so much. And that puny single laser in the...

    New Wing Commander Game?

Or, heck, within WC1 itself. There's several different models for the Claw (IIRC, the engine nozzle configuration is what differs). Granted, though, the differences between the models are more subtle than those between the models in SWC and WC1.

Why is the Space-Sim genre still dead?

Except it wasn't. UO has always been a money machine for EA. That EQ, WoW, etc are now better known than UO, among the general gaming-aware public (not necessarily gamers, either, as those kinds of games have been featured in more than a few TV show episodes), doesn't change that status.

    Most underrated fighter

Me, I'd say the Scimitar. Yes, the one that Iceman compares to a Centauran Mud Pig. It's not the fastest, nor the hardest-hitting, nor the best protected, but it's still a nice solid "workhorse" ship. With its two mass drivers, it could slam out the rounds for a long time, and except against...

    Lance Casey

Blair wasn't exactly Mr. Chat-a-holic when he was first introduced, either. :p

Why is the Space-Sim genre still dead?

"Wagon Train to the Stars" (how Roddenberry pitched it to CBS) is new? :p Snark aside, I know I'm kind of frequently guilty of it myself, but you might want to try not looking back at the older stuff through a nostalgia filter.

    Most overrated fighter?

I've always thought that, in the final space mission of WC3, should you not chase Hobbes after he guts Cobra, the T-bolt he flew was a greater concern than the Bloodfang, supposedly the baddest-ass fighter in the Kilrathi arsenal. That turret gun was one of the reasons.

Probably because you were likely to wind up in one, with its paper-thin defenses. :p

War is Declared (July 5, 2010)

Apparently, there was a possible analog to the Anna M, though the RL event turned out much better for the civilian craft. During Japanese operations in the Dutch East Indies in 1942, IJN pilots had standing orders to shoot down any aircraft in the area, armed or not. Saburo Sakai, however...

War is Declared (July 5, 2010)

I don't believe there was a specific analog for the Anna M in WW2, but the Japanese at the time did often have a significant disregard for the accepted rules of war, particularly the treatment of noncombatants and prisoners of war. Nanjing, the Bataan death march, Unit 731, putting civilians in...

Only one keypress recognised at once in wc1 and wc2

That's a known problem with the way the games handle the keyboard buffer. I don't recall, off the top of my head, if there's any way to work around it.

War is Declared (July 5, 2010)

Facin was from Action Stations. The main reason Confed thought it was winning was because the kats weren't really contesting the campaign, more focused on McAuliffe. As for "evil cliche", you do recall we're talking about WW2-Pacific IN SPACE!, right? :p That kind of thing wasn't unheard of...

Yes, changing avatars is reserved for members with 2000 or more posts, or on occasion is awarded to those who have contributed greatly to the community over time, as mentioned in the forum ranks FAQ.

    Most overrated fighter?

But it was a primary craft. Light fighters only go so far (ignoring player vs AI experience), and you can only afford so many heavy fighters in terms of both hangar space and production cost. While the Hellcat wasn't all that great, it wasn't complete and utter piece of shit, either, and served...

    Most overrated fighter?

Except where it would count, in side turrets. :p As for Hellcats often appearing in fan mods, whatever one thinks about it, it was a common fighter of the WC3/4 era, so unless the mod is not much more than just fanwank (*cough*PrivateerRemake*cough*), it's bound to be present should one be...

    Firekkan

They have full flight capability, as shown in Freedom Flight where servers at the bar that Hunter and K'kai were drinking at were flying around to deliver orders, in a vertically oriented building. (Whether such flight on a humanoid form is even possible is a subject for another forum.)

No, being signed up for the CZ isn't required for reading, and some forums (like the Tech Support forum) not even for posting. However, without having an account, you're limited not only in the obvious stuff like PMs and such, but forum display settings, like for example how many posts show per...
