Bring a WC wingman to SQ42

Also, in response to the original question, I'd love to have Francois Chau (Vagabond) for S42, he'd have to be called 'Chang' too, as he's played this name in four different productions now (Lost, Chuck, 21 and over and of course Wing Commander)

Bring a WC wingman to SQ42

That's interesting, I always thought Flint could be quite warm and lovely at times. Definitely opinionated, but smart, beautiful too. I always chose her. Don't get me wrong, Rachel was gorgeous, I just think in real life I'd have more in common with Flint. Blair was damned lucky to have his...

    Vintage Videos Visit WC3 & P2 Film Shoots (May 18, 2016)

First an update involving the Amiga, and now Bad Influence! This is like nostalgia week for British wingnuts. It was a strange show, very zany and off the wall.

Amiga Article Takes Us Back Nearly 25 Years (May 15, 2016)

Yes, the CD32 was something I very much coveted many moons ago. They're occasionally knocking about on eBay, I think your description in another thread described it nicely; it was truly 'between the wars' in terms of styling and indeed performance. Aesthetically aimed squarely at the Megadrive...

Amiga Article Takes Us Back Nearly 25 Years (May 15, 2016)

My very first taste of Wing Commander was on the Amiga. Even with the reduced colours and lack of in-cockpit explosions or hand movements, the game was mind blowingly good for the time. Edit: Interesting that they chose a Drakhri for the magazine's cover graphic. Ahh how I miss those mags...

Shopping at Egghead Next Time I Get the Chance (August 11, 2011)

Those shelves behind Richard...! What a time to be alive. I too very much miss buying software in a box. A zip file full of .pdf manuals included with a game bought for download just doesn't cut it. Wing Commander was a superb example of how to fill a box with goodies. Those times are behind us...

    How Long To Beat?

To be fair, they were quite desperate to get the final episode released in time for the CIC's birthday. Which was a great present.

LOAF Fixes the Computer of Tomorrow

It's 4am, and thanks to the necro bump above, I just spent 40 minutes reading through this epic adventure once more. I never thought I'd reach a time in my life where lying awake in bed in the small hours with a smartphone reading about how a dude far across the sea went to great trouble to...

Wing commander 2 or deluxe edition? Need advice

I honestly don't know the answer to that, but I'm sure LOAF will :) but as for having found both, if you can afford them - I'd grab them while you can. The titles are becoming more and more difficult to find.

Wing commander 2 or deluxe edition? Need advice

I think original big box version is rarer, but I could be wrong. The deluxe edition I bought as a kid, albeit secondhand, was just a CD case. EDIT: Seems I'm wrong, there's a full big box WC2 deluxe also. If I were you I'd get whatever you can find as both will be scarce by now.

Happy Birthday Wing Commander! Check Out Map In High Res Glory (March 12, 2016)

@Jetlag - you're insane! But thank you for this, it'd make a swell canvas print. Great work.

    Eterium WC highly influenced game

Also played on release - didn't the devs come to the CIC to plug the game? As @centaurianmudpig points out, the combat and general flight dynamics are rather special. It's all so smooth and in my opinion looks fantastic. If ever there was to be another attempt at a WC1 remake, this would...

Do any confederation fighters/bombers have copilots?

I think the novels confirm that the rear turrets of the Thunderbolt and Longbow are manned. I remember Hobbes programming his ship's computer to fire the turret automatically. ...and Blair saying in The Price Of Freedom that as he tailed a Confed Longbow, he could see the gunner looking at him.

To @Hunter_13 @David Wade and @Sylvester - thanks for everything. I always feel humbled in the presence of those who served, and even as a non-American can appreciate the time and dedication you've given towards the defense of our shared values. ...and Hunter is right, I signed up as a...

A surprising Wing Commander music similarity.

Thanks, George - I'll check that out! Hahaha.

I'll play. I hope more people do too as it's nice to put faces to names and learn backstory :) As my username suggests, I'm Dan. I'm from the very far south-western tip of England. I'll also be 31 in a few months. my trade is genetics. I'm into retro gaming, sketching, hiking in the woods and...
