    Stay safe, wingnuts

What? When did I ever say I suspected to be infected? Confinement procedures aren't for infected people, they're for everyone.

    Stay safe, wingnuts

We don't really have supermarkets around where I live, only very small grocery stores, and there's noone in it when I get in the one 40 seconds away from my place, the cashier is wearing gloves as well as a mask while we use contactless payment with cards. Long story short, I don't touch...

    Stay safe, wingnuts

I'd say it seriously depends where you live. In European large towns and cities, grocery stores are usually within five minutes on foot, and the lockdowns allow grocery runs, so I got out after four days to get food for my standard grub (when I can't get food in restaurants and stuff, I tend to...

    Stay safe, wingnuts

Thanks! I'm not worrying much, the friend and I are keeping each other sane, and the remote working is pretty social, as the company has procedures, numerous conference calls, etc. In the end, it's just a longer and drier version of the time I got stuck home due to hurricane Harvey back when I...

    Stay safe, wingnuts

Heh, I've been confined in my mate's flat for the entire week, now, with maybe one hour outside since Monday to grab some groceries. I've got it easy thanks to my company being prepared already for full remote working.

    [2020-02] Some novel character portraits

I guess the grey eyes work slightly better, but there's not much of an edge over the blue ones IMO.

    [2020-02] Some novel character portraits

White uniforms might be used for particular occasions or specific ranks, though. We haven't seen all of the possible dress lockers of the Kats, so a bit of creative liberty works IMO, particularly when it does look good.

    [2020-02] Some novel character portraits

I ain't much of a lore keeper here, nor an artist, so I won't be the guy to ask when it comes to canonicity or specific art style, but I definitely like more and more this Eastern drawing style. It also helps that I'm reading again the Empire book series from Feyst's Riftwar saga, which makes me...

From the Stars: Wing Commander ships in From The Depths

And I've started working on the internals, starting with the ready room: Small level of detail as of now, since I'm not sure yet whether I'll have to redo a lot of stuff to stay within the hull limits (for example, I'll have to reduce its depth to get the payload computers closer to the...

    [2020-02] Some novel character portraits

Phew, now I kinda want to see a comic made in this art taking place entirely within Kilrathi space, with no humans. It could be a great opportunity to show their society like some of the books briefly did. Great art!

Border Worlds Star Graces New Wallpaper (February 11, 2020)

Damn that model is good, in particular the attention given to the cockpit. Watch out, @DefianceIndustries, you have competition now! :-P On the other hand, I'm a bit annoyed at its integration with the background, which could have been done better. I don't know how exactly, but it really feels...

Star Trek: Picard | Free Series Premiere Episode on Youtube

Well, it led to Leeloo Dallas Multipass before, so I don't see any issue with this. :-D

From the Stars: Wing Commander ships in From The Depths

The outer hull is finished! The first fittings were a pretty large generator and ion engines to keep the ship from falling down below, so if spawned in space, it should remain there. It is available for download here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1993250468

The 3-D Space Combat Strategizer (January 21, 2019)

It didn't help that the game had no random mission generator. For a Privateer-like, it's a crime.

Are there other "space carrier" novels out there with not too much "weird" elements but instead grounded military sci-fi?

No, it's imperially screwed. ;-) But, yep, they managed to wreck everything beautifully, and I'm glad I haven't given them any money, being satisfied in reading the plot summary to shake my head for free. Though, you gotta admit Disney is competing extremely hard when it comes to match the...

From the Stars: Wing Commander ships in From The Depths

Urgh, got the proportions slightly wrong, so the final ship will be around 640-650 metres long instead of 720 metres. Should still give a proper idea of its size to work on it. I'll cut the part behind the red line, but the outer hull is now 95 % done.

About the clans involed in the five-sided Kilrathi civil war...

These Kats do look really nice. This kind of art could definitely help more narrative-focused projects. :-)

From the Stars: Wing Commander ships in From The Depths

My last project was a submarine with Lua controls, working sensor displays, strategic map and numerical data indicators. If you're curious about it: [/spoiler] Status update, a large part of the underside is done, including the Bussard scoops: Current stats: 2,5 million resources, 142 344...

From the Stars: Wing Commander ships in From The Depths

60 percent of the main hull is done now, and it really starts looking like the original. At this point, I need to add the belly and the rear, then it'll be time to start the decoration. More than 100 000 blocks needed at this point. EDIT: the large bulge under the flight deck is done, next part...
