Ah, okay, sorry I misunderstood that. For your descent, its a bit of a guessing game. I would actually suggest quicksaving before you start descending, and find an altitude where you can start a short, full power burn that will have you slowed right before the surface, and then you can tweak it...

You want to aim for an intercept periapsis with the Mun of about 50 km. Start your braking burn right before you hit periapsis. You should have to expend a delta V of about 300 m/s to get into orbit of the moon. Any orbit works - even a very hyperbolic one can be brought down near the surface...

    New 3D Thread

The idea that the WC3 ships had to be blocky for the engine is a common misconception. The real reason for the change was to simply bring about a fresh and distinct art style from WC1 and WC2. Several years ago, someone created models of all of the WC1 and WC2 ships under the poly count limit...

    Kerbal Space Program

Since the mun has no atmosphere, you're gonna need to execute some sort of breaking burn while still in orbit of it to control your descent. You want to probably be at about 30,000 meters and then fire retrograde until your course line intersects the mun where you want to land. Then as you...

The Arrows sort of remind me of the difference between a F/A-18C Hornet and a F/A-18E Super Hornet. Externally, they look very similar, but on the inside, the Super Hornet has a lot more staying power and is a good bit bigger. I see the same sort of thing going on here - the later versions of...

Struts are your friend. Its basically impossibly to build a large rocket without them. The games' physics engine only calculates stuff like forces and torques around a single connection point between parts (they did this in order to keep the math the game was doing down). The consequence is that...

Starting small is the best. Try starting with the small probe shape and just get into low Kerbin orbit (70+ km). To achieve orbit, you want to launch and continue straight up until you hit about 10 kilometers. Then start pitching over slowly on the 90 degree bearing line until you are only about...

The best way I can describe the difference between Orbiter and KSP is, besides KSP's obviously more fanciful art design, is that Orbiter is to KSP is that Orbiter is like playing Jane's Longbow where literally every switch in the cockpit does something different, and KSP is like playing...

    Kerbal Space Program

I've posted some pictures of my adventures in space in this thread: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/44266-SpaceSylvester-s-Mission-Reports A lot of the parts I have are fan made and can be downloaded for free at the Kerbal Space Port mod center, which is fully endorsed by...

    Kerbal Space Program

Hey fellow Wingnuts. For all of you out there who ocassionally like to get their Newtonian physics groove on, I highly recommend this great indie game called Kerbal Space Program: https://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/ You can design, build, and launch your own rockets. The rockets can carry...

Way to go LOAF! Congratulations and best of luck to you!

Hmm...I'm starting to really like this a lot. My only comment would be "needs more green", and perhaps some of the thin blue striping we see on the flight deck in the WC1 cutscenes. Other than that, I think its a very nice blend of the WC1 and SWC designs.

    Star Citizen computer question

I built my rig from parts ordered on newegg. I figure that I may have to update the graphics card, but I have tonnes of CPU power and RAM so I think I probably would have to spend less than $200 to upgrade for best performance.

Does Star Citizen deserve its own board on SolSector.net Forums

I voted yes on the grounds that despite not being in the WC Universe, let us be honest. This game would be Wing Commander if it wasn't for certain licensing issues. And not too long ago, we had Solsector boards for Wing Commander mods for Macross and several other genres that weren't going to be...

Things you'd like to see in Star Citizen

My vote is for Tiger's Claw if the CIC gets a Bengal carrier. Seems appropriate. That or Andrew Keith.

RSI Pledge Total Back Online (October 14, 2012)

The average contribution is on the order of about $90 right now, which I think is pretty good (though that may be imbalanced from a lot of us crazy wingnuts giving more than $100). Both PC Gamer and Rock Paper Shotgun have done articles on the fundraising totals so far, so I think that there has...

RSI Pledge Total Back Online (October 14, 2012)

Come on people - we're at 800,000 - with 24 days left! We can do this. Talk to everyone you know who loved Wing Commander, or Starlancer, or Privateer, or any of those great titles and encourage them to donate! Every dollar we spend here will pay dividends back down the road when we show the...

Easter Eggs Abound in Squadron 42 Trailer (October 11, 2012)

    I think I may have found another easter egg involving the date that the series now takes place: 2942: 2 + 9 + 4 + 2 = 17 2654: 2 + 6 + 5 + 4 = 17 Coincidence? I think unlikely.

I don't have the 250 to give right now, but by the end of the month I should have enough.
