Creating a computer-aided version of WCTO

Sorry, I'm performing tonight and just came on to check this thread. I'll answer all of your questions tomorrow after I've had a chance to "cool down" a bit! Hope that's okay, but I'm really busy today... :(

Noticed (especially in turn 110 for the Broadsword) that there's a "Turret (Aft)," "Turret (Starboard)" and a "Turret." Have to observe if there's any "Turret (Port)" at all... Everything else worked fine so far - fighter gun fire absorbed by phase shields, I launched another FF missile, fired...

Actually, the PTC should work exactly like a front-mounted gun. I just found out that this isn't in the manual, because I thought it was "common lore" in the WC universe, but I should definitely include this in future iterations. Speaking of the PTC, I guess we should even restrict it further by...

AMG hits aren't funny for fighters. Poor Jalkehi...! :p Talking about funny: The second half of the Jalkehi's info text is off. First I thought it was because the info pop-up got moved upwards (being too close to the bottom border of the screen) and the text was not, but it stayed that way even...

The error message sure doesn't sound like it, but what if it wasn't the off-the-map movement that caused the crash, but maybe two persons trying to issue orders at the same time?

Avacar, you sure are a hard-working man! ;) Now, who of you has ordered the Durango off the map? I tried to avert it, but couldn't change its speed and course in time... Guess that's why we now have an error message about "unexpected number of templates." :p

Alpha demo isn't working right now, so I assume you're on it... :p It occured to me that the turrets don't necessarily have to act as rear turrets, but maybe as a rear-facing gun with opportunity fire, since opportunity fire would have worked in that special case! Still not sure why the mass...

And some more bugs... Turn 46: - The Broadsword can fire an FF missile, although there's no target in its range (Rapier) or fire arc (Durango). Turn 49: - Both Rapier and Broadsword launched an FF missile, but it didn't show up on the map (although it should appear and just sit there, right?)...

Noticed the turret issue before reading this, so I won't complain about that. :p They're rather behaving like a rear turret at this point, though - I can target the Durango in turn 42, even with my mass drivers. (Probably because independent targeting isn't implemented yet.) I fired all guns at...

Well, looks like I did it: I could fire the DF missile at the Ferret this time, but I think I didn't issue the order. (Couldn't deselect the DF, so I closed the missile selection menu altogether.) Then again, I'm not sure why I'd deserve the above warning, other than letting the fighters fire...

Creating a computer-aided version of WCTO

The Ferret appeared as a valid target for my FF missiles, but not for the DF missile. Either there's a problem with the DF's fire arc (as opposed to, say, an HS missile) or with the possibility to fire it at range 2, no matter what maneuvers your target executed in the turn before. (Since I did...

Darn, you're right about that "Orders" button, haha! :D Okay, next version: Keep it the way it is, but close all other ship info screens as soon as you roll over a new ship (unless you clicked the left mouse button to have the former info screen stay open). Does this sound as if it'd be making...

Chrome 5.0.X - but you're right, Firefox shows the text correctly. For now, yes. I'm not exactly sure if we're doing the Immelman turn justice, but I'm not really happy with the way it translates to WCTO anyway. (Seeing that you usually pull it off to turn around AND gain some height at the...

Creating a computer-aided version of WCTO

Got this message after I ordered full reserved fire for both Rapier and Ferret: Not sure if it has to do anything with the reserved fire, though... One more thing: I managed to pull off an Immelman turn at speed 0 with the Rapier. It's probably one of the manual errata I have to fix, but an...

Creating a computer-aided version of WCTO

The only ship with an orders button was the Rapier (I ordered it to fire all guns at the Ferret, with no reserve fire). Someone else has probably taken care of the Ferret before I got in... It should now generate a turn 29, or did I miss something? Should these reports show at the top of the...

Creating a computer-aided version of WCTO

Once again, great work! I'd like to help out, but it seems to be stuck at turn 28... I could issue firing orders for the Rapier, but it won't go on from there. Maybe someone actually blew up one of the fighters and the program doesn't yet know how to handle this? ;) I also haven't seen any...

Great news! And since you've mentioned report texts: Do you want to use my "turn summary" screen in some form? Because I could send you all the text strings for it if you want.

Well, according to Wing Commander Academy (the game, not the animated series), FF missiles DO lock onto capital targets. I fired one and it turned right towards the next Ralatha... Of course, it didn't do any damage, but this means that enemy ships with phase shielding (or friendlies with a...

Creating a computer-aided version of WCTO

Very good question... I'm not sure if I ever saw an FF missile lock on a target with phase shields, but I think you could fire them at transports. Hm. I'll try this out in Academy later today, just to be sure...
