So in short, run the installer with cycles of around 7000, set ems=false and make sure you're running the wc4demo from folder mounted in dosbox as C:\wc4demo\

Really dosbox doesn't solve it? - thats something really bizarre, i'll have a check later on (in my xp boot now) but that seems like the very thing dosbox is designed TO do!

If you have 7 pro you might be able to use the xp mode? or use virtualpc (or virtualbox) to run xp inside win7 and run it that way.

why not just use cputype auto? anyway, loadfix uses up some of the memory - as you may know, dos had a low memory limit of 640kb, but it was almost impossible to get such a high value free (mouse drivers, cd driver etc etc), anyway a lot of games have problems when dosbox gives them all...

The installer asks if you want digital speech turned on as i recall. if not, use "loadfix 16" a couple of times to eat up some memory, when it gets too low WC2 will stop trying to play speech (however, it may have other effects :P)
