Prophecy Gets Even More Resolutions (March 5, 2006)

Will the patch fix that annoying cross on lens flares (still evident in the 3rd picture?) or is this something beyond HCl's control?

I got him to download the DOS-Win95 patch, however I didn't realise about the comptability mode (I currently am without a copy myself)

Wrap Your Video Card For Better Effects (August 19, 2005)

I've never had any problems using Zeckensack's Glide Wrapper with the 3DFX Test. Been using dgvoodoo one with other games lately http://dege.freeweb.hu/ which allows you to choose what resolution you want to run things in (1600*1200 is nice ;) ) I'll give the test a go with it tonight.

    Runways

It's not like the fighter's actually land on them, they seem more like markings on the structure of the carrier as a guide?

Can't you run Strike Commander in Dosbox?

    Could WC1 be made better?

The only way I'd like to see a remake done would be to run the original at a higher resolution and colours. This would allow much higher quality sprites. If it was a modification of the original rather than a complete remake it would work, as the engine would function the same.

    a few ship questions.

    1. In Wing Commander on the SNES I believe, there was a cutscene where a hornet/s and rapier/s jumped. Other than that it was the same. 2. Sometime in the period of 10 or so years between the end of the Tiger's Claw and the start of Privateer's storyline. 3. Not that I'm aware of...

Gary Whitta Doesn't Like Wing Commander!

Civ3's corruption or whatever it's called annoyed the hell out of me. Basically made conquering another continent nigh impossible.

    So, what's to do here?

Umm, get inspired to replay all the Wing Commander games? Check out Unknown Enemy and Standoff (they aren't remakes) chat about any WC questions that come up during the previous two.

A question for the techheads - The Banshee

I loved Armada, when I was at boarding school it gave me a chance to beat everyone time and again on the weekends ;)

A question for the techheads - The Banshee

All the craft in Armada seemed weird to me. Acadamy gave a size of 16m for the Wraith, Armada gave it 35m (I think) and much the same for the Jrathek. That's a pretty hefty increase....

Transferring characters from SM2 to WC2

Ok, I just did it myself. 1) Use the transfer program that comes with WC1 to transfer the character back to SM1 2) Use wcsav (install it in the gamedat directory) and choose to edit your pilot 3) Where it says Secret Missions press - key and it will change to Vega 4) Press esc twice and go...

Transferring characters from SM2 to WC2

yes, that's the one, you need to convert it back to an original vega campaign file. Also when you chose DOS, did it give you the option to choose SM2?

Transferring characters from SM2 to WC2

The savegame editor will open your savegame, change it to a vega campaign and have it saved as SAVEGAME.WLD. WC2 should then see it.

Transferring characters from SM2 to WC2

oops my bad...... C:\wc1\gamedat(a)\ then see if it will import it as a dos version. Otherwise do the other thing I suggested. Not sure if it's gamedat or gamedata. If you give me a few days I'll be doing it myself (Currently in the first Dralthi mission)

Transferring characters from SM2 to WC2

The SM2 savefile is called CRUSADE.WLD you could try putting it in C:\WC2\Gamedata\ and importing it as a DOS SM2 savegame. Or you could use the savegame editor to convert the file back to a Vega Campaign savegame with all your kills/rank etc intact.
