Hm, I think the Privateer talking heads allow for all kinds of permutations of eyes, hairstyle, skulls, etc. Might require some conversion of file formats, but still easier than drawing some (at least for me :) )

Absolutely :) Besides that, I think that @Stinger's WCDX is currently the best way to play it; it provides the smoothest framerate, gameplay speed, etc. Funny thing, I think WC2 still plays a lot better than WC1 these days. So, playing WC1 in the WC2 engine would be my favorite. :)

On the original thread, it got about 60. But that's still the version with the bad installer batch file. I don't know how many downloads it got in the CIC's download section.

Looks like this happened already: https://www.wcnews.com/news/2015/06/08 @WingOver fixed the install routine for original DOS. Where did you get your version from? We should make sure that all available versions are up-to-date... Of course, this still leaves the bad ending in place.

@Shot, thanks for taking the time to do the extensive review. Regarding the broken installer .bat file: you're absolutely right, this was done for Windows. I'm lacking an authentic DOS machine. But I'll do that. For you. Soon. And sorry for getting the bad ending. References to what cutscenes...
