Polish Program Promotes Prophecy (December 8, 2018)

Hmm, was he? I never got the impression there was anything "born again" about him in religious terms, it's just that he is religious - but then again, I've never kept up with celebrity chatter, so I'm sure I could easily have missed some "born again" moment. Certainly, I can see his musical...

Wing Commander Prophecy: Secret Ops Model Update Pack

Very nice Tigershark, man, but.... ITS! Misplaced punctuation is evil :).

Implements of War: Separated at Birth? (November 21, 2018)

Well... it was either that, an octopus, or a spider. I'd definitely not place any bets on the head massager ;).

    Idea: WC1 to WCA conversion

Unfortunately, WCA is just too limited as a mission editor to be anything more than a toy. It must have been pretty exciting back when it was first released, and no one could even dream about mission editing tools, but today? Meh.

    Defiance's Eyecandy Thread

Hey, I never noticed that the Morningstar is basically the MiG 1.44. Sheesh, looking top-down, the differences between the two are almost non-existent!

Wing Commander makes the top 5 at Space Dock

Recognition is great, but... ugh, the Vesuvius at numer one? Sheesh, there's just no accounting for taste :). Bengal, Confederation, the Midway... I could understand any of those, but the Vesuvius? Ah, well.

    Defiance's Eyecandy Thread

I always love it when people add those little details like "no step" signs and the like. Back in the day, of course, it just wouldn't have been possible to convey such details on textures, so it's really fun to see it now.

    Defiance's Eyecandy Thread

Oh, yeah, sure, now everyone loves the Vindicator. Back in the day, you couldn't swing a cat without hitting someone whining about the Vindicator :p. As for me, I don't even remember whether I liked flying it for its stats or not, but I did love it for its looks. I'm superficial that way.

    Defiance's Eyecandy Thread

Ah, the Vindicator! Now, if we're talking about ships that get the least love, that's got to be one of the all-time-least-loved ships of the series. It always felt like you only flew this ship when you had to, for a planetside mission - and there weren't that many of them. Otherwise, most people...

    Unknown Enemy Upgrade

No, no, no. There is no way that sort of arrangement could possibly work. Think about it: if you had fifty separate launch tubes, how could you ever invoke the "launch tubes are out of action, you're all we've got" trope? Imagine all the gameplay possibilities they'd destroy with this one...

    Unknown Enemy Upgrade

Well, now, that's a different issue: there's no reason why fighters in WC couldn't take off any way they like. Mind you, a couple of WC sources - I think the WC4 novel was the main culprit - did add the preposterous notion that ships did need catapults or at least take-off assistance rockets...

Wing Commander Sprite Enhancement, Experimentation, and Information

Normally, it's a 3d mesh surrounding the game world, used to display the sky textures. In this case, of course, there isn't any such thing, but the principle is pretty similar for the background. I assume ShadowArm is referring to the various planet and star sprites

    Unknown Enemy Upgrade

I don't know about that. Well, I mena, yes, I know WC fighter scale is wonky (especially WC1), but I don't know if this is as much of a problem as we think it is. Historical carriers also grappled with these issues, and the fact is, it's never a comfortable fit - there's very few carriers that...

    Adventures in Explorations: WC1 Edition

Well, WC2 in the way it was actually created, poses more of a challenge than that. Swapping Blair and Angel either means some major narrative changes, or it means swapping Blair and Angel's roles around K'tithrak Mang and the stealth fighters, too. That generates all sorts of issues.

    Unknown Enemy Upgrade

Ouch. Man, those cutscenes were awkward. Although probably they really couldn't get that much better in terms of scripting. The problem with UE wasn't that we couldn't script scenes properly, but rather that we tried to do stuff that just went too far beyond what the game was intended for -...

    Adventures in Explorations: WC1 Edition

I don't actually recall any instances where the script would refer to Blair as "he" - in WC1, hardly anyone ever talks about Blair in third-person (I mean, he's there with them), while both first-person and the second-person form used occasionally is gender-neutral in English. I suspect...

    Adventures in Explorations: WC1 Edition

That is correct, the WC2 ship sources are available. A couple of them had missing textures, but I think the community had already taken care of that... or if they haven't, it wouldn't be a big challenge to do so.
