    Challenge coins

Here's this, with the Hornet reduced in size by about 20%. If this run is successful I'll definitely try other designs!

    Challenge coins

Thanks for the feedback! I'm not trying to make this perfectly authentic. It's a souvineer, not an attempt at a legit challenge coin. Updated version with a Hornet attached.

    Challenge coins

I finally got back around to this! First pass design is below. I think it looks pretty great! I think perhaps it needs a Hornet below the Claw, or something? Any other suggestions?

    Challenge coins

Thanks for the feedback! I was thinking one side would be the Black Lion squadron logo: Text above and below: 88th Fighter Wing, Black Lion Squadron And the other side would be either a shot of the Tiger's Claw: Or the Confed logo (or both): With text around the edge: TCS Tiger's Claw...

    Challenge coins

So I've just become interested in challenge coins. I don't usually like random trinkets, but these are pretty neat. I have this crazy idea of making a kickstarter to get some Wing Commander challenge coins made, Vega Campaign design or something. Anyone else interested?

Yeah, and isn't it "Buy Wing Commander 2!" they keep mouthing? :)

    WC1 turned inside out

Totally missed that all this great work was going on! So glad to see you gathering all this data, delMar! One of my dead projects from a couple years back was a clone of WC1, written in Python. It's nowhere near complete, the flight engine isn't even started, but it's what got me down the path...

    WC1 mission objectives

From what I have, the first block in module.00x is the ships that autopilot with you. But I haven't experimented deeply with it. I contacted HCl, and just he pointed out that the answer was right in front of me the whole time. The nav map IS the mission objectives. From my limited...

    WC1 mission objectives

In my on-again off-again quest to fully document and duplicate the WC1/2 game engine, I've run into an interesting gap. From HCl's work, I've gained an understanding of how the graphics and data files are typically encoded. HCl fully documented the graphics, and the missions format can be mostly...

    WC1/2 clone (NOT remake) proposal

A proper 3d engine isn't strictly necessary, no, but it does make the engine much more extensible in the long run. Also, it cuts down on having to implement my own collision code. :)

    WC1/2 clone (NOT remake) proposal

You're quite right, Pygame is definitely not the way to go for the flight engine. I was looking at PySoy for that, since I wasn't planning to go deep enough to develop my own 3D engine. If it comes to that, though, I may just. You can use OpenGL through Pygame, I understand, but I don't...

    WC1/2 clone (NOT remake) proposal

I actually started working on this again for the first time in a while. I now have a functional room engine, which will display the rec room and the barracks and transition between them. All clickable hotspots are in place in the rec room, and conversations play as appropriate for the mission...

    WC1/2 clone (NOT remake) proposal

The files I linked to above contain the format information you want. For example, where each table is in the file is contained in the first table, which is at the beginning of the file. I may update the format files with an example some time, just for grins. And my code should be much more...

    WC1/2 clone (NOT remake) proposal

Looking at the Pygame documentation, PNG exporting should be a trivial addition to the code. I'll see about doing a simple executable package once I get back into the code.
