Outstanding work. As far as I'm concerned, from now on your old "I'm not a character artist" excuse is forfeit :)

I wonder if this "something else" (that's progressing beautifully, BTW :) ) couldn't contribute to the cutscenes and story interactions

magnificent. this is what a true remake should look like: careful re-creation of how the original game felt when we played it as 13-year old kids. I haven't been this delighted and filled with anticipation for a WC-adjacent game since... I don't know, since waiting for Privateer 2? (that, albeit...

wow! authentic AF :) (you might want to bump the first "E" a bit to the right, though: it's hugging "L" and pulling away from "A")

any chance of seeing a Kilrathi pilot's hands (paws?) and knees? :)

great job! the only thing that read better in the original typeface was that the horizontal strokes were thinner than vertical (and therefore allowed for wider vertical gaps) like, "e" in "Demo" reads better than "a" and "s" and other "e"s right now exactly because the gaps in it are slightly...

looks better and better, and it looked fantastic from the get-go! have I already told you that you're the boss? because you're the boss. one small thing that's been bugging me, and I'm not sure if it's temporary or intended, so brace for unsolicited feedback :) the blaster power indicator looks...

hot damn this is amazing! now I'm jonesing for a WC Pioneer built on this foundation :) then again, it's not fair wishing you that much free time: it would mean less of your handiwork in the actual industry games, and if RGO is any indication, there should be as much of it as humanly possible...

this rocks! (and Arne Niklas Jansson and Dan Fessler are badasses, and so are you :) on a side note, I've wondered for some time now if there's a way to morph between pre-rendered sprite frames to get smooth transitions. you know, like automatic frame interpolation in newer TVs?

The 2009 Web Site of the Year is a typo, right?

    Burrows Gets a Facelift (December 2, 2008)

whoah, dangerous idea. giving the player redundant options to choose from... leads straight on to hell. besides, my sketch can't be used for anything other than giving some direction to the artist doing this. it's just that - a sketch. and, yes, the original Burrows kicked ass. too bad pixel art...

    Burrows Gets a Facelift (December 2, 2008)

just a better quality jpeg of the same image meanwhile I heard an opinion that both John's version and my edit look much younger than the original Burrows. the original guy is dry and tired, his face muscles are loose, while in our remakes he's a much juicier young lad. dunno if it's...

explicit touch-up dear Gemini Gold team, good job guys! glad that you've got so far with the project as to actually remake the character gfx. I don't know, maybe using 3D character models could be even wiser: 3D's easier to animate and fix, and if you're going to conquer greater resolutions...

    Progress Update #3

let me be the first to say wow. the first Ralari was a good enough job, but now I see how much could be improved. that said, the red windows with black contour, while awesome in the shadowed parts, look somewhat glued on when light hits the surrounding wall.
