Looks mostly like a rendering update but with no new assets. Looks nice, don't get me wrong, but some new higher rez and poly models and cockpits would be great, especially the HUD.
THe WW1 planes being included feels a bit silly. Even in the narrative of the world the oldest I would expect would late 2ng gen gets (F-86/Mig-15s) or early 3rd gen (vietnam era).
That being said would have loved seeing some 3rd gen fighters in your arsenal (F-8s, A-7s, F-4s, etc...) but in...

I doubt it would have been something so complex. More likely that the overlay had an additional keyphrase for temporary pauses to the overlay or simply to make him temporarily susceptible to outside influence, almost like hypnosis. Once the pause is over it would probably leave him groggy, or...
And it is one that could have been implemented at the time without much more space (which was a major constraint, I know).
The other, lower memory solution, would be Wing Commander reports on the crew that update after every mission describing Blair's and Eisen's regular crew assessments. It...
I'd think the most obvious way would be something similar to Mass Effect's Squad Selection Screen. Instead of different outfits and highlights, the character's poses and reactions would show their morale: Low, Neutral, High. For Example, Maniac:
Low Morale: Stand with his arms crossed barely...
@Bandit LOAF summed up the issues with Tolwyn well. While Forstchen is a great writer, he tends to deify flag-level officers, and as a result, our views of Tolwyn get twisted by that.
In regards to the BW conflict, a lot can be said of the visual narrative in WC-IV, especially the uniforms...
