First of all, Sector 14 Studios is currently seriously thinking about making the game from scratch, thanks to the ongoing support from us. See this thread http://www.firstones.com/forums/Forum1/HTML/003169.html, and especially not Rick Brewer's message about market and the game.
You haven't...
As you've probably read about it, our final attempt to rescue the Babylon 5: Into the Fire space combat simulation has failed.
All this is thanks to the game company that cancelled it (Sierra) now sitting on the game material, reversing it's earlier decision to sell it. They grow aware of the...
You're darn right it's personal ... let's take a look at how this developed:
<OL TYPE=1>
<LI>The game got canned
<LI>Huge mass of negative PR on the public, thanks to our massive campaigns
<LI>Sierra told that they're willing to sell the IP (=Intellectual Property)
<LI>Several game companies...
That's a mild understatement. From what I've heard of the ex-developers is that Sierra won't be able to make a Babylon 5 -based game ... ever. They've burned bridges with Warner Bros with their "little stunt".
There may be a shred of light, however: According to Sector 14 Studios CEO's...
Well, it appears the fight is over and we've been beaten by the very company that caused all this pain ... Sierra. The space combat sim that was going to rock the scene has finally died.
When everything else was in place - the publisher, the financing and the lisence ... THEY SAT ON THE GAME...
Well, we're still here, and I thought I'd bring you up to speed with the current situation.
The fighting part is over, and Sector 14 Studios is still very much kicking alive, although they don't make very much noise about themselves in order not to ruin the things going on at the moment -...
You're right - Sierra's lisence has expired several months ago, and it has returned to the WB.
Sierra still has the game material though, and that's what they need to purchase from Sierra. I have read between the lines, that getting the lisence from WB should be a pretty easy task.
It could be that the company will concentrate on the Babylon 5 series, but there is always hope - plus this should prove, that one can make a difference.
Maybe you should start lobbying for the WC series as we did with the B5:ItF. Be warned though ... it will take alot of work and the...
Well, guess what? 8 months after cancellation, the d*mn thing still refuses to die!
I know things went sower for the WC fans, but it almost happened on the B5:ItF too.
In February the Codemasters was very close on buying the game from Sierra, but apparently their price was too high, plus...
