    WC4 DVD: Where's the music?

Hey all. Sometimes, during spaceflight, after I wipe out all enemies, the background music doesn't return. Anyone else have this problem? I'm using a patched CD-to-DVD version, which I had previously patched from DOS to Windows. Using Windoews XP SP3. EDIT: Hmmm, problem seems to have been...

Wing Commander III FMVs: DOS version with DOSBox versus GOG release

Hey all. Wondering something. I know WCIII has a pain-in-the-ass kink in its programming where throwing too many CPU cycles at it via DOSBox will cause the FMVs to stutter and fuck up, forcing you to switch between two different cycle sets for spaceflight and gameflow. Does the GOG version...

BREAKING NEWS: Wing Commander III on GOG (September 13, 2011)

All I wanna know is if they fixed the bug that forced me to lower cycles for the FMVs lest they get skippy and nasty. If so, I'll buy a dozen.

A Series of Unfortunate Events (July 16, 2010)

There were three major single-player games. X-Wing vs TIE Fighter certainly isn't without significance but I remember a whole lot of people back then kinda taken aback that XVT didn't have much in the way of single-player and were awaiting the "real" sequel to TIE Fighter. So I've heard that...

    There's Always (A New) Hope (June 26, 2010)

The purple-haired girl filling in for Obi-Wan is Nei, from Phantasy Star II (the artist must be a big Sega fan). Easter Island Heads are trademark Gradius baddies, so they go along with the Vic Vipers above. The creature below is Fox McCloud, the hero of Star Fox.

Great "Ah ha!" moments when playing WC

No. What I mean is, if you just try to lock onto the Fralthras when you have torps selected, you'll lose that lock the minute you turn more than 20-45 degrees away from them. With IRs selected, I can turn my back to them and get some distance, so I don't have to worry about them shooting off...

Great "Ah ha!" moments when playing WC

So I spent the entire day trying to beat the final mission of Special Operations 1 today. Until just about 15 minutes ago when I learned that I should save at least one IR missile (or preferably use only guns on the Sarthas and Gothris) so I can use that to lock onto the Fralthras far from...

The Art of Wing Commander Arena - Part Eight (October 10, 2007)

I'm gonna guess this evolved into the Rapier. It looks like the Wing Commander I model, plus intakes.

    Konami's "Salamander"

To be honest with you, I think you should just track down a copy of the NES version. It's a lot easier to play, since the difficulty isn't rigged to suck quarters out of you and two kinda blah levels in the arcade version were replaced by more interesting ones. (Vic Viper vs King Tut=win). Or...

    The 5 Deadliest Pilots

When you taunt the enemy Rapiers, they're always Kilrathi pilots. The game seemed to imply that humans were being forced to still run the ship in some respect, though.

    The 5 Deadliest Pilots

Those five Kilrathi fuckers flying the Rapiers in SM1. ;_;!

    WC2 DosBox 7 Problem...

Loadfix without a parameter takes too much out of the main memory. Try "loadfix -1" or something similar.

WC2 and DOSBox: Weird sound issues

I tried all that. It's still the same. EDIT: Hmm. I just learned that the Gamedats for the Kilrathi Saga versions are the same thing as the DOS originals, so I just copied the KS WCII Gamedat over the DOS one; great success!

WC2 and DOSBox: Weird sound issues

I nuked and reinstalled using the floppies. The intro plays all the way through on the first time now, but the all of the speech pack sound is still garbled; I'm going to assume it's still compressed. The previous owner didn't put up the write-protection on the speech disks and I didn't notice...
