Is it possible to use a force feedback joystick with WCP and WC IV ??

In Wing Commander Prophecy, I have destroyed a part of the aliens forces with the new plasma canon installed on the TCS Midway but during the next mission, I recieve a fatal error message "dinput : fetch2 fell out of loop". I don't understand what's wrong because all was working properly...
